Steve Huerta

Informed by house and techno of decades past, both in American and European tradition Huerta’s productions demonstrate a quality of timelessness and maturity that is not easily achieved in the noisy world of music today. Manifested by gritty textures, emotive atmospheres, and a keen sense of groove, his tracks use their sonic artifacts to tell a story -- one that is equally comprehensible on the dance floor as it as at home. Releasing records via imprints such as Dirt Crew Recordings and Brooklyn-based Lets Play House, Huerta has also channeled much of his creative output into Amadeus Records, a label he helps run with Urulu. Upon relocating to Berlin in 2014, the young artist found the creative atmosphere that was largely missing in his home of Los Angeles. With endless sources of inspiration and an audience with unmatched appreciation for club cuts, Huerta’s DJing and productions achieved a new level of depth and functionality. Getting regular sets at institutions like Renate, Watergate, Chalet and Tresor, Huerta also teamed up with long time friend and collaborator Yooj for a roaming party called “A Family Afar”.
