About Rolphy
Rolphy is a Denver-based hip hop artist who fuses melancholy tones with introspective lyricism. Rolphy stumbled upon hip hop while riding around with friends and writing lyrics in 2009. Soon, he began recording on a laptop and finding his sound before playing his first show in 2011. Rolphy released his first album, “Unrequited Despair,” in 2013. Following his first album, Rolphy spent a week by himself in the mountains writing his second album, “Age of Aquarius,” which was released in February of 2015. The common theme in “Age of Aquarius” is simply to question rather than accept. It encourages the listener to evaluate their surroundings and their emotions with songs like “Black Out” and “Introspection.” Rolphy’s live shows are a place for him to connect and interact with the audience. He often passes a topic board through the crowd and incorporates their cues into freestyle during each show. Lyrics are the driving force behind all of Rolphy’s songs. He is always looking to expand his vocabulary and express himself poetically. “I don’t want to repeat myself,” says Rolphy. “I’m always looking to progress and keep growing as an artist.” This is very noticeable when comparing the delivery of lyrics in his older songs, such as “Cold Road” or “No Fix,” to newer songs like “Bang Bang” or “Rather Live In Space.” Rolphy draws inspiration from a variety of musicians including Eminem, The Doors, Eyedea & Abilities, and Nirvana. The lyricism, rhyming ability, and the unique sound and concepts these artists embody have influenced Rolphy’s musical style. "I really believe these artists accomplished what they did because they were able to relate to people beyond the superficial level. They connected to real struggles that normal people felt. When you connect with your heart, something deeper and more meaningful happens." Rophy is currently focusing his energy on his writing skills and putting out music on a more regular basis. He is signed to Intangible Productions where they strive to make creative and relatable music that engages the listener. Rolphy’s family, friends and early fans have been there to support him from that first barebones show back in 2011. “Listen, real poetry doesn’t say anything; it just ticks off the possibilities. Opens all doors. You can walk through anyone that suits you.” ~Jim Morrison
