Unlike his Panamanian namesake, deposed dictator General Manuel Noriega, music is the weaponry of choice for DJ Noriega (better known to his millions of listeners as DJ Norie) although his incomparable mixing skills and irrepressible energy on the microphone transform his musical selections into formidable artillery that is feared by colleagues and competitors alike. Indeed, since he debuted almost two and a half years ago on New York City hip hop station WWPR Power 105.1 FM, Norie’s Sunday night show “Anything Goes-Caribbean Edition”, a vigorous blend of soca, reggaeton, roots reggae and dancehall, accented with a distinctive Brooklyn flavor, consistently tops the ratings for the 8-10 PM time slot according to Arbitron statistics.
