Aimee Francis

Americana-rock-country artist Aimee Francis is back with her new single,
'Seventeen', written about a 6-week stint in Los Angeles with her best friends,
whiskey and her fake ID.
With ‘Seventeen’, Aimee has gone back to the start. ‘I wrote Seventeen about my
teenage years time spent in America. About a year after living there, my band
and I went back for six weeks. We played shows, we saw shows and we drank
the bars dry. It was three best friends playing music and having the time of our
lives.’
She has also gone back to writing for herself. ‘As a songwriter, it's quite easy to
get caught up in what everyone else is doing, what seems to be ‘working’ on
radio and trying to fit a certain mould. I got tired of it, bought a record player
and listened to my favorites non-stop and wrote what I felt - that’s how
Seventeen came about.’
You can hear her Tom Petty influences in the slide guitar, The Eagles in the
harmonies and a Faces-esque bass and drum combo. Aimee flew to LA last year
to record with long time friend Shane Soloski at Blue Suede Studios. ‘We'd played
shows together and spent many a night listening to Johnny Cash in his car, but it
took us 10 years to finally get into the studio together to write and record!’
