About Mark Evans

Melbourne based guitarist Mark Evans began playing guitar at the age of 14, inspired by Richie Sambora, Angus Young and Joe Satriani. Taking lessons for 3 years until outgrowing his guitar teachers, he began to teach himself while getting into metal music, as well as Jazz and Fusion. At the age of 16 he met up with drummer Matt Racovalis and together they formed Alarum. Recording numerous demos more rooted in the thrash/death metal vein, the "Another World" EP was issued in 1993. In '94 two songs were recorded for a local compilation album titled 'Death down under' (DEF records). In 1999 their debut album Fluid Motion was released. The band spent the next several years touring nationally while continuing to write. In 2001 Mark was invited to join Earache recording artists The Berzerker for a successful North American tour. He also appeared on the re-issue of their self-titled release, and the 'Principles and practises' DVD. Upon returning to Australia, Alarum began demoing for what became the "Eventuality" album, released through MGM distribution in Australia, Willowtip Records (USA) & Earache Records (Europe). The album gained very positive reviews. 2006 Saw the band on tour throughout the US and the UK. After a couple of lineup changes, a new album, "Natural Causes" was released in October of 2011, with Mark handling all of the guitar duties. Currently working on a follow-up album as well as several solo projects.
