Freeman Street

Freeman Street are based in South Wales and play well-crafted funky Soul with a retro vibe. We initially got together to play classic Soul and Funk covers, which we've been doing every week for the past three years in pubs, clubs, festivals and functions. All that gigging has been great fun and has also meant that the band is confident playing in any live situation. The band was going so well that we decided to start writing our own songs. We currently have about 15 original songs and they're influenced by the kind of artists whose music we've been playing as a covers band: Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Al Green, Jackson 5, KC and the Sunshine Band, Amy Winehouse, Bee Gees, Cee Lo Green . . . the list goes on. Although we've only recently started writing and recording original songs, we have already been chosen as the support act on Five Star's Reunion Tour in 2012. We will be playing to audiences of between 10,000 to 15,000 in 14 UK cities throughout September, October and November. We will be recording our first album later this year which is scheduled for release in Spring 2012. The members of Freeman Street are a mixed bag of personalities with some interesting stories to tell. The thing we all have in common is a shared love of sweet Soul music. Original Funk/Soul Band
