About SympL
As an author, emcee, promoter, booking agent, and tour manager, sympL has worn many hats and his resume includes some of the best in the business. First and foremost, however, he is an artist raised, groomed, and tested by the d.i.y. ethos. As founding member and manager of the group, Projekt Lotus, he was able to establish a solid and loyal fanbase around the U.S. He worked up the touring ranks both solo and with his group to share the stage and support highly publicized tours with Wu-Tang Clan's Cappadonna, Del the Funky Homosapien and Hieroglyphics, Chali2na and Akil the MC of Jurassic 5, Cypress Hill, Das EFX, the Artifacts, Mobb Deep, R.A.the Rugged Man, and more. With a discography that would rival some signed artists, sympL has released countless mixtapes, 13 projects with Projekt Lotus, 4 solo EPs, and album features - such as the single, "We Got This" with Amiri and Bukue One - released on HipNott Records. Always moving, sympL has kept his pace and since early 2014, he has released 2 Drum-N-Bass mixtapes, a handfull of exclusive singles, and was featured on Full Blast Movement's album "High Volume" - alongside Cappadonna, Billy Danze of M.O.P., Vast Aire of Cannibal Ox, and Bizare from D12. sympL is also released several projects - a new solo EP - "D.O.P.E." on Lovelorn Records, "Universal Boogie" with Bukue One on Varia Labs Records, a mix tape with Starship Music - "How to Make Money in Your Spare Time," and most recently, he released a video for the single, "Turn it Up" - which after catching the ear of radio personality, JJ Solomon, was featured on his show on 96.3 fm The Block. sympL's kept busy touring schedule too - working with EDM producer, Mindelixir, as well as hip hop acts Mobb Deep and RA the Rugged Man, and was added to a few dates on the famed Van's Warped Tour. His plate continued to fill - hosting EDM events produced by Lifted Gville, Pulse, and some of the most prominent electronic acts in the industry. He's also worked consistently as tour manager and publicist for Full Blast Tour - leading indie artists from New England to the Carolinas. Most recently, he collaborated with Grind Mode Cypher during the March Radness Tour in Spring 2017 - representing SC among MCs from 7 other states. Inspired by graffiti legend, Tume, sympL learned the art & aesthetics of graffiti and applied it in his own way - looking to establish community free-expression walls and to present the art form in a context where it may be used as method to reach inner-city youth. In the summer of 2015, he worked with The Upstate Children's Museum on an event highlighting a proposal for a public skatepark in the city. He continued his community work - organizing a fundraiser for Flint Michigan as part of a national campaign. Hiphop4Flint was a coordinated effort across 42 cities in one day including some of the largest markets in the country. sympL's focus in his art is to present the culture of Hip Hop in it's entirety to the world and accessible to all - hence the name of his movement and brand, "Dropp Science." In the summer of 2017, sympL followed up with a heavy tour schedule by providing regional support for Riff Raff, Space Jesus, and Kosha Dillz - as well as promoting and hosting a stop on GrindMode Cypher's Southern Savagery Series - all over the course of 3 days and immediately locked in Moonshine Festival in GA where he presented the Dropp Science brand at a side-stage at the largely edm festival. The curation of the artists featured on the stage - combined with the overall experience working within the industry caught the eye of Kevin Moore of Thaz Dope Records - who invited sympL to the label to assist with management of their Hip Hop roster. The first single, "Up, Up, & Away" was produced by longtime collaborator, Mr. Dash and revisits the duo's formula of fluid wordplay over boom-bap. The video was released December 26th, 2017 and the single will be available on Thaz Dope Records in February, 2018. sympL is available for select dates for performances, tour support, speaking engagements, art installations, and features.
