Capsized

Capsized was conceived in 2004 by Billy Luttrell (Molehill) and Jacob Middlebrooks (Blue-Eyed Boy Mister Death) through acoustic jam sessions in a basement in Birmingham, Ala. As concepts became songs, the songwriters added Tommy Palladino (Long Cold Stare) and Mike Gaut (Model Citizen) to form the core of the band. Capsized relaunched their “armanda of amps” in 2012, adding Jason Odom (Element), whose impact is evident in their latest song, “Tidal.” Capsized has forged a reputation for the massive volume of their live shows and their extended song arrangements, sharing the stage with the likes of Kylesa, Deafheaven, Coliseum, Sons of Tonatiuh and Fistula, among others. Drawing on influences that include Isis and The Melvins, Capsized’s sound merges mammoth riffs and pounding rhythms with intricate guitar haromonies and dissonant chords.
