About Bear the Mammoth

Bear The Mammoth is a Progressive Post-Rock band from Melbourne, Australia. Delivering music that has been said to be “Moody, atmospheric, and sublime. The music pitches and lulls, ebbs and flows like an ocean of melody and mood. Lovers of post-rock will not be disappointed.” spiralspiral, jjj SuperUser In 2012, Bear the Mammoth released their debut E.P “In Absence” Which was produced by Nao Anzai. It has attracted attention locally and from all over the globe. In Absence was reviewed by indie music reviewer ech(((o)))es & dust “It’s powerful music live and even on the record, Bear the Mammoth’s songs have that feeling of living and breathing. What you get with ‘In Absence’ is just a taste of what this young band are writing and playing.” Gilbert Potts In 2013, Bear The Mammoth released a split E.P with two instrumental bands from Melbourne, Kettlespider and Xenograft. This E.P contained one song from each band and as a review by “This Is Not A Scene” said “It’s a great snapshot of just three of the bands creating progressive instrumental energy in Melbourne right now and presents it like they were always meant to be together on the same record.” While playing many gigs and a great amount of improvised jams, Bear the Mammoth had also been working on new material for their album. In 2014, Bear the Mammoth hit the studio again with Nao Anzai at Soundpark Studio’s in Northcote to record their debut album. The debut album, “Yamadori” was released on June 28th at The Evelyn Hotel Having played with the likes of We Lost The Sea, Jakob, Closure In Moscow, Sleepmakeswaves, Tangled Thoughts of Leaving, Solkyri, Eleventh He Reaches London, Jericco, Ne Obliviscaris, The Red Paintings, and many more acts, Bear the Mammoth have made their mark in the Australian progressive music scene.
