Rick Springfield

I try to see Rick any time he comes within 2 hours of me. This show was 2.5, but I knew it'd be worth the extra drive, and it was! I've never been disappointed in any show of his I've seen. I love the music (and was especially thrilled to hear "Venus in Overdrive", which I love and hadn't heard live), and he and the band clearly have a blast performing. They're high energy, and the hardest part is trying to watch everyone! I've been following Rick since '72, and as long as he's playing, I'll be there. Any chance I get.

I am a lifelong fan of Rick Springfield, but this was something completely different. I have traveled to many states to see Rick Springfield perform with other bands, and other musicians, but the friendship between Rick Springfield and Richard Marks is 5 Stars. Totally entertaining and so much fun as they bounced off each other musically and in conversation plus engaging with the audience to make it even more exciting - The laughter and the fun truly was fantastic !! The friendship they have together and synergy between the two of them on stage is so heartwarming and genuine - Rick Springfield as always sexy & sounds fantastic. The audience sings along with Ricks songs together in unison, he actually asks and demands that we sing with him because he always says if you don’t know the words to my music, what the hell you doing here!! Richard Marx has a beautiful hypnotic voice, and gotta say very easy on the eyes. I purchased a backstage “Meet N Greet pass to meet Rick Springfield. . Just a fabulous evening all around - The St. George Theatre is just magnificent . It was refurbished and it was just breathtaking to look at! Definitely a five star evening and the two of them together, they should’ve been thought of years to go. Why did they wait so long? Once again an "Amazing Performance"! - Sold Out - and the crowd was so well behaved. I had back stage pass as I usually purchase separately, and Joey plus the security team worked so hard to make sure everything ran smoothly before he stepped on stage. - I had 2nd row middle seats and to experience Rick as he interact with the audience, plus has a endless amount of energy. Rick performance was off the charts exhilarating.- I was very impressed with everything.. - Keep on Rockin Rick ! - 74 years of age looks incredible and sound amazing. Thanks so much - Susan

Amazing! I’ve seen Rick at least 10 times and I was surprised this was quite possibly the best show I’ve seen of his! Rick defies age, he’s full of energy and his voice is still top notch! The sound at Mystic was excellent and the band was tight! Crowd was HUGE! What a great show Rick and band!!!CHECK OUT HIS NEW ALBUM -AUTOMATIC- pop/dance/ rock style songs like his Tao and Rock of Life albums as well as a little working class dog. His new songs want to make you get out and move it!

Rick always puts on a great show! I've seen him every chance I got since he first came near in '82, and have followed him since '72. He and the band are clearly having a blast, which is important to me. If the band isn't having fun, what's the point? Personally, I'd prefer some newer music; with the exception of "Voodoo House" (which I LOVE), he mostly did 80s songs. Not that I don't enjoy those, of course. But I really love some of the newer stuff too. With as many albums as he's released, though, if he did everybody's favorites, he'd be there all night! Anyone who hasn't seen him live, check him out. This band ROCKS! And I listen to mostly "hair bands", if that gives you any frame of reference. I know I'll continue to see any show I can. As long as he's still performing, I'll keep showing up.

I bought tickets; 1 - because I LOVE Rick Springfield and 2 - because the tickets I bought were part of the "Rock the Heart" Charity. The Fillmore is an awesome venue with tons of character. The food served at the charity VIP party was fantastic. The staff was so nice and helpful; especially since I was tooling around on a knee scooter due to foot surgery. Which is more than I can say about the crazy amount aging, and some wasted, women who felt the juvenile need to encroach the front of the stage; in spite of not having seats anywhere near the front of the stage. Security needed more manpower at the front of the stage. Other than the rabid 45+ year old women, my friend and I had an amazing time.

I've been following Rick since his first single, "Speak to the Sky" back in '72 or '73. And seeing him live since I think '82, the first time he came close enough. Since then, if he's within 2 hours of me, I'm usually there. He puts on a great, high-energy show, with humor mixed in, and it's always a blast. Since it was the 40th anniversary of the WORKING CLASS DOG album, he did quite a bit of older music, but still did "Voodoo House", which is one of my favorites of the newer songs, so that was cool. He has so much music, it's hard to hear a good chunk of it. I like the smaller venues like this theater cos he's able to better interact with the audience. And when he sits at the edge of the stage for "My Father's Chair", the emotion in his voice leads to complete silence from the entire venue. He's backed by a great band, who have been with him for quite a while. I would like to have seen more lighting on the band, but they sounded amazing. And we got the news there was new music coming soon. Can't wait!

Rick Springfield was awesome. The venue does has slacked on their “silence/no talking during the show”. Which was irritating as this was a storytelling show. Fans paid a lot of money for these tickets knowing that we will have an respectful audience. There were a few table that were definitely served to much to drink. Not only made them disrupted. It obviously distracted Rick with his performance. If fans want to scream and dance this is not the venue to do so. Birchmere needs to tighten up on their rule and the venue atmosphere they are historically know for.

I came to see Rick because I know he puts on a high energy concert that it is hard to beat. I am just a little bit of Rick fangirl. LOL. I was not expecting John Waite and Men At Work to match that energy, but they did. John Waite had everyone singing along with his songs and even sang Zeppelin. He told the story of how he wrote Bluebird Cafe, which made the song that much more enjoyable. Men At Work were incredible. I was truly impressed by Scheila Gonzalez, who I watched play flute, keyboard and saxophone. Then there was Rick. He spoke candidly about this depression and the crowd was on their feet singing with him for most of the set. He came into the audience for Human Touch, encouraged us to sing with him on Don't Talk To Strangers...and we even sang him a belated "Happy Birthday." Truly an incredible night with so many talented musicians in one place.

I've seen Rick probably 2-3 dozen times over the years. Never been disappointed! He always has fun and puts on a great show. My only complaint is that due to 3 bands and the venue having a curfew, the sets were shorter. I miss hearing the newer songs when the set is shortened. Usually in a set we hear "Voodoo House" or "Little Demon", both of which I love. Not that I object to the older music, but he has so much to choose from that it's impossible to do a big variety. Still, I've been a fan since '72 (before most people knew who he was). And I'll go see him any chance I get! Great music, great humor, and a lot of fun.

John Waite was great. Colin Hay sounds the same, just wished they would’ve mixed their hits and deep cuts a little more than just waiting to play the hits at the end. And Rick — Oh. Em. Gee. I almostfelt like a teen again! He is the consummate entertainer! My friends and I were so thrilled to be there. He rocked our world and took us out of reality for one evening. Only downside was that venue- his demographic has aged just as he has and it’s hard for people to see when at the same level, especially if those in front of you stand and also hard for us all to stand the entire concert. Other than that it was magnificent! The music did make us want to get up and dance rendering the seating situation irrelevant. Rick has still got it even at 72! He said 70 is the new 40 and I believe him.

Rick Springfield was fantastic! Men at work and John Waite were very good. The only disappointment I had was where the event was held. I felt the seating was not right for that type of venue. The chairs were all at the same level, which made it difficult to see. Especially when people stood up in front of me. I had to stand for the entire concert in order to see. I really felt bad for the children in the audience. Unless they were up front, I'm sure they could not see. However, I really enjoyed myself. I love Rick Springfield and he puts on a great performance. I sang along with all the songs. I hope to see him again in the near future. Rock on Rick!

I give Rick 10 stars! what a pro, he was not feeling good due to a cold and still put on a GREAT show at a week away from 73 you would think he was in his 30-40s! The only reason I take one star away is we bought the meet and greet and the Smart FC reception area we met him in had very bad lighting and our photos turned out terrible, they need a room for this kind of thing with tested lighting and proper chair and table for the artist not a hall way! Hope to get another picture if he comes back to our neck of the woods in San Antonio Texas.

So I love the venue! Always have. Tonight we sat in the first balcony. Different viewpoint. John Waite was vintage John Waite. Last time I saw him Jon Caine and Ricky Phillips were on stage as The Baby’s. That’s been many years. His voice is still a treasure. Collin Hay and his Men at Work band were great. He had a Cuban and Central and South American composition of band members and they were excellent. Rick Springfield came on and the decibels increased. My only negative. Rick said he had a cold but he sure gave it all in his performance. Excellent band and particularly the bass player Siggy Sjorenson (sorry if I misspelled) who was a 60 minute cardio lesson!

It was a very nice show. John Waite opened the show (wish he would’ve sung a couple more songs from The Babys era) his voice has held up beautifully. Men at Work was my husband’s favorite set. He enjoyed hearing many of the songs from their debut album. Colin Hay also had a very nice singing voice. His band was AWESOME! The woman that played the flute, sax, keyboard and an additional reed instrument was so entertaining!!! Rick Springfield was ever the entertainer. He was dropping F-bombs throughout his set (didn’t bother me…but I noticed children leaving the SFC) and wondered if their parents regretted bringing them to the concert 🤷🏻‍♀️. First time to see all the performers live. Overall, very nice concert.

Typically this classic rocker don’t do special intimate acoustic experiences well, but this was different. I had never seen Rick LIVE so I seized the opportunity for the near two hour drive to check the box. What I discovered was a super-fun, super-creative guy take the stage. It took a moment to understand the concept but I found myself in the middle of a live ROCKumentary. Highlights and fun moments were the Stacy’s Mom-Jessie’s Girl-Jenny 867-5309 mash-up, band-in-a-box, Todd Rundgren stories. The fact that Rick didn’t short change us with time in a set like this was a huge plus!

I saw Rick Springfield when he came to Augusta when I was 11 years old with my mom. Last night being at the Belle with my husband the day after my daughter just turned 14 truly was a full circle moment. I have been to many concerts in my life and have even had the pleasure of meeting many artists. Seeing him and when he came out in the audience it was like I was teenager again. Wonderful concert! Both him and Richard Marx were unbelievable! Truly one of the best I have ever been too! My husband was not even a fan before we went and he left one! Best night!

This is the second Stripped Down show I've seen, and even more fun than the first. Of course, I was front row Center this time, which didn't hurt! He has a lot of fun with the audience, so it's not only a great show musically, but it's hilarious, too. The Stripped Down shows are just Rick and a variety of guitars, and some backing tracks he recorded, so its fun to hear the songs that way (along with a couple new ones). And anyone who doubts the quality of his voice, the last half of "My Father's Chair", where he pushes the mic away and sings A Cappella, would quickly dispell any doubts. But then, I've been a believer since "Speak to the Sky " came out in 1972 --yes, long before "Jessie's Girl ". And I'll be around as long as he's still having fun on the road!

The show was great! But then, Rick never disappoints. Even with a few of his band members still en route from the airport, he rocked. *They dud arrive in time for the last few songs and made up for it.) It was kind of fun seeing Jack Blade fill in on bass in the meantime, and even though they ended up doing covers since they had to come up with songs everyone knew, it was a blast. I love Rick's music, obviously, but seeing him and the others just cut loose and wing et it was a lot of fun. And the acoustic beginning was cool, especially for anyone who hadn't been fortunate enough to have seen one of his "stripped down" shows. The only bad part is that since losing my sister a while ago, it's much harder to listen to "My Father's Chair". It's unfortunate that the venue had a curfew due to the location, or I'll bet they'd have kept on for quite a lot longer, because the band was obviously having as much fun as we were!
