Disko Matique

Disko matique was formed in 2009 by 2 dutch producers/musicians, Thijmen Hoebink and Pierre Hagelaars. Together they create an Indie Dance sound inspired by vintage pop music from the 70’s and the 80’s.

Since the beginning of their collaboration they shared the love for artists such as Electric Light Orchestra, David Bowie, Chic, The Buggles and Queen. The sounds, progressions and harmonies used by these artists seized them. This is what glimmers through their music by making authentic song structures and progressions which are turned into steady indie dance music.

Their first release was the Freshman EP in 2012. This Freshman EP was a 6 track EP that contained a travel through disco, pop and rock combined with electro.

After releasing the Freshman EP Disko Matique they played at many venues such as Rotown, Perron, 013 and Festivals as Kindergarten, Festyland and Mundial, sharing the stage with artist like 2MANYDJ’S, Aeroplane, Yuksek, The Subs, Simian Mobile Disco and many others. Their succes also resulted in gigs over the borders. Past years Disko Matique played in Spain, Italy, France and England.

The Freshman EP earned his credits in many blogs and magazines. For example, Dutch leading music magazine OOR wrote: ‘in the heavy disco rockers Sports Jersey and The Battle Of The Bands the duo is definitely better than the new Justice. Let’s make this clear: we sure will be hearing a lot of these Dutch guys.’
