Victoria Fragomeni

Victoria Fragomeni makes a unique and transcendent sound. There are other ways to describe the power and grace of her voice but they all lead one to think of adjectives usually reserved for the world of spirituality. Victoria may have only just reached the age of 15, but her voice and musical style immediately put the listener in a holy head space, out of time and place; somehow ancient, eternal and yet, immediate and post modern. One recent review proposed that if you crossed the DNA of Adelle and Pavarotti you would have created Victoria Fragomeni. This is not the sound of the lady in the Viking helmet. This is an opera voice for the next generation. Victoria was raised in home where she was exposed to the European romantic sounds of Ramazotti and Julio Iglesias. The airwaves in her hometown of Caledon, Ontario were filled with cutting edge pop. But, watching the film “Bend It Like Beckham” young Vic heard Nessun Dorma and the eternal tones of Pavarotti. She was drawn to sing operatic repertoire from that moment. “I still love to sing big pop songs but every time I perform classical music I just can’t describe the feeling. The songs and sounds are so big and the feeling is like sharing the music of angels. When I see how it moves people it just blows me away” Victoria gushes. 2012 has been a year filled with big and small performances that have helped shape Victoria’s future. From huge Canada Day crowds to the OMNI TV sponsored Amateur Singing Contest, she has learned the effect that the right song and sound can have. This summer she is off to New York to work with the great Bill Schuman (a vocal coach who has worked with Il Divo, Josh Groban and a who’s who of major opera stars) She has learned to seize the moment and rise above it.
