About Thera
/// Thera is a high-charged female fronted hard rock band, formed in Anchorage, Alaska. They have recently finished recording their third album "For Someone, Somewhere" a hard-hitting blend of melodic metal and inspiring calm, captured by Seattle based producer Casey Bates (Pierce the Veil, Memphis May Fire). Bates brought a new side to Thera’s aggressive rock style adding refined electronic production. The EP "For Someone, Somewhere" is due out in late 2014 and the band plans to hit the ground running when it drops. To accompany the release, Thera has a full schedule of performances throughout their home state of Alaska, including shows with 36 Crazyfists and Papa Roach, and an extended tour planned for late fall. Thera began taking shape in 2007 when Stephanie Plate (vocals, keys) and Ronnie Plate (vocals, guitar) started writing indie-rock tunes in the far northern town of Soldotna, Alaska. There relocated to Anchorage and joined forces with Steven Cornfield (bass, synth) and Mason Venhaus (lead guitar), which brought a metal side to their spectrum and complemented their roots in raw indie-rock. The addition of Dustin Murr (drums) more recently brought energy and new hard-hitting style to Thera. Together, they offer a delicate balance of female vocals and male screams laid over the rising and falling of music reminiscent of bands from Letlive and Architects to Brand New and Manchester Orchestra. Thera spent most of the summer of 2011 touring the continental United States on a self-funded van and trailer tour. The U.S. tour hit 13 states from the coast of Oregon through Texas, up to Chicago and back; playing bars, festivals, and rock clubs all along the way. After the tour, they headed straight to Atlanta, Georgia to record their second album "From the North" with Producer Matt Goldman (UnderOath, The Devil Wears Prada). In 2013, Thera toured the United Kingdom with 36 Crazyfists and California based Armed for Apocalypse, through the month of November, and has plans to return to the UK as soon as they can. /// www.WeAreThera.com www.twitter.com/WeAreThera www.instagram.com/WeAreThera www.youtube.com/TheraFromAK "From The North" EP out now. https://soundcloud.com/WeAreThera "For Someone, Somewhere" out now on iTunes! https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/for-someo
