More than Fate

Hailing from the rough-and-tumble NYC music scene, this Astoria foursome’s signature style is “high energy, raw and expressive,” as proclaimed by its diverse fan base. More than Fate is known for capturing both beauty and aggressiveness with its authentic and commanding vocals, powerful and lively guitar, and hard-hitting rhythm section. The band strives to promote self-awareness and empowerment through their meaningful music. The group, founded in mid-2011, includes lead guitarist Carlos Casados and bass guitarist Jack McLeod, along with drummer Phil Lherisson and vocalist Eddie Slate (both formerly of the band Ampithy). The band firmly believes that everyone is empowered to create their own fate through their personal choices, an idea encapsulated in the band’s name. Finding musical talent in the NYC area isn’t difficult,” Slate admits, “the difficulty lies in finding other dedicated musicians that mesh well together.” Despite their diverse musical backgrounds, “as soon as we started, it was an instant musical bond. It was like we knew exactly what was on each other's minds,” Phil recalls. “Love of the hard rock genre and musical giants, such as Sevendust, Chevelle, Karnivool, and Eye Empire, have motivated us to create our music.” Carlos adds. The band is passionately dedicated to live performance. MtF has performed in numerous venues well known to the NYC rock scene, such as Arlene’s Grocery, Tammany Hall, Webster Hall, Sullivan Hall, Blackthorn 51, Santos Party House, and Tobacco Road. They have shared the stage with national touring acts Straight Line Stitch and Stardog Champion (ex members of Breaking Benjamin). The band is currently performing all over the greater New York area and beyond. Their debut EP "Permutations," recorded by award-winning producer John Alec, was released in July 2013.
