About Hiro-a-key

With his pure high tone voice and transcendent falsetto,
Hiro-a-key is a bilingual singer that crosses genres from Hip Hop, Jazz, Soul, to Rock.
Born in Japan then spending his childhood to adolescent years in NY & LA, Hiro-a-key first started music by playing alto saxophone for the school brass band. He grew up in an environment of Big Band Jazz to Hip Hop and many other types of music.
After returning to Japan, singing became his priority.
Utilizing the rhythms of English and Japanese lyrics, his vocals hover between song and speech/rap, and also will occasionally beat-box. His performance feature a sampler and a keyboard, and often with a live band.
In 2004, Hiro-a-key was chosen as one of the main human characters for the world famous children’s TV program “Sesame Street”, sharing his singing and dancing talent on screen with Elmo, Cookie Monster, Big Bird and others.
In 2010, he releases his 1st album “Hiroglyphics”.
An album that featured Fat Jon (Five deez), HanaH Spring, SWING-O recorded Top 10 on HMV Shibuya’s Weekly chart. The lead song “Kanae” ranked No.2 on USEN Hit Indies Ranking and his name gradually spread thru out Japan.
In 2012, he started “DRAMATIC SOUL” with close singer/songwriters Kenichi Takemoto, Maru a.k.a. Fire Lily and Rung Hyang, an event/creator-group that released 2 albums and livened up the Japanese R&B, Soul scene.
Hiro-a-key has also worked on stages and/or recorded with artists such as Tomita-Lab, Kaoru Kurosawa (The Gospellers), Motohiro Hata, Naoto Inti-Raymi, Tomoko Nagashima a.k.a. Nia (Orange Pekoe), Chemistry, Asako Toki, Osamu Jinguji (Remioromen), ROOM56, Snarky Puppy, BIGYUKI, SOIL&”PIMP” SESSIONS, m.c.A・T, Dance☆Man, Junpei Shiina, Takuya Kuroda, JiLL-Decoy association, Bird, Maaya Sakamoto, Tei Towa, Shuya Okino, Mariko Ide, Silva, Mari Mizuno (Paris Match), Harumi Tsuyuzaki, Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro, Nao Yoshioka, Osaka Monaurail, Root Soul, Marter, Monica, Blu-Swing, bohemianvoodoo, TRI4TH, JABBERLOOP and more.
He has also worked on company commercials and sound logos such as Panasonic, VOLVO, KOSE Visee, Happinet, J-WAVE and more.
Hiro-a-key also performed and/or recorded in US, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Germany.
Currently working on his 2nd album.
