Five Cent Cones

Luxembourg’s Five Cent Cones were founded in January 2011, after three of them have been playing together since 2009. Their first influences consisted mainly of Franz Ferdinand’s catchy tunes, Arctic Monkeys’ Indie vibes and Maximo Park’s punchy guitar riffs. They started the production for their first CD entitled ‘Behind Inconspicuous Doors’ in November of that same year, and released it in March 2012. At the 2012 edition of the Screaming Fields Festival, the band were able to secure the prize for best song and best live performance. They spent their summer working on writing and rehearsing the live sound to the theatrical dance act called ‘De leschten Dag’ along with Serge Tonnar. With a lot of new influences of different genres, they left behind their teenage roots and filed their sound into a new mature musical package. In 2013, they got together with Yves Stephany and started the production for new songs. Almost simultaneously, they won that year’s edition of ‘Brand Your Band’ Song Contest and hit the studio to record their Single 'Dreamer', released in March 2014. In July 2014, the Band recorded their 2nd EP 'Clockwise' at the Poison Apple Studios in Lisbon, produced by Vasco Ramos, and released it in March 2015.
