Although hip-hop has coursed through these streets long before, March of 2008 witnessed the emergence of 541’s native progeny and pacesetter, Poverty’s Posterboy. Never content to blend in with a backdrop or settle for mediocrity, Poverty hit the ground running, blazing a trail through the Pacific Northwest with 37 shows in his first year alone and creating a vehicle of autonomy for his music through the formation of his own label, Northwest Noize with partner and fellow rapper Bilyeu aka Mr. 541. Through ingenuity and collaboration with artists across the globe Pov has become a catalyst for progress in Albany and hip-hop communities throughout Oregon. Poverty’s Posterboy keeps tight with the community that birthed him and has never stepped down from an opportunity to fire up the mic, having shared the stage with national names the likes of Twista, Young Buck, Do Or Die, Krizz Kaliko, Layzie Bone, Mack 10, Glasses Malone, Bubba Sparxxx, Celly Cel, Spice 1, Doomsday Productions, San Quinn, Rappin’ 4-Tay, Yukmouth, Kokane, Luni Coleone, Hillside Stranglaz, Twisted Insane, A.F.F.I.L.I.A.T.E.S., Mike Marshall, Rydah J Klyde, Equipto, ABK, DJ Chill, Doey Rock, Cool Nutz, and MORE.
