Small Steps

SMALL STEPS started in late 2022 outside Lexington, Kentucky when Jeremiah (vocals/guitar) & Coty (drums) got together in a crammed office & started writing music. They had an idea of what style of band they were wanting to create & Jeremiah had several songs already started. They knew there was a need for a punk band in the Lexington scene & wanted it to be them. They clicked instantly musically & were on the same page. Creating this energy just came naturally. They started reaching out to other musicians to see if anyone would be interested in joining them to round out a complete sound. Jon (guitar) came into the picture about a month later & fit like a missing puzzle piece. Having grown up in the hardcore punk scene like Jeremiah, their writing styles on guitar were an exact match. They recorded a self released 4 song EP in December of 2023 even before they had a bass player. Jonathan (bass/vocals) came along & started playing bass at the beginning of 2023 & rounded out the sound & the energy. 2023 was a big year for SMALL STEPS with playing a lot of shows in a short amount of time, small tours, & releasing a full length vinyl album that came out on the iconic Blind Rage Records. 2024 brought a change in lineup with Jonathan leaving bass/vocal duties to focus on life and his other band Retribution. Justin moved in on bass/vocals and the song structures continued to grow. 2024 has brought several notable shows and fests.
Small Steps has shared the stage with Zero Boys, Harley Poe, Die Kruezen/The Crosses, The Homeless Gospel Choir, Negative Approach, Nine Pound Hammer, Squint, Last Gasp, The Raging Nathans, and more!

Small Steps has also been seen at the following festivals: Blind Rage Weekend, Marble City Meltdown, Kentucky Punk Rock Flea Market, "It's Not Just A Phase!" Fest, Vibrolas' Fun Ranch, and more!
