Chinese Robots

Chinese Robots is the innovative project of Pierre-H. By day, Pierre-H is a model employee, but by night, he turns into a passionate artiste maudit. This bipolar character defies the norm, getting his inspiration from the heart of urban Parisian life. As a non-conformist David Fincher figure, he is carving his own path through the asphalt, noise and fury of the city. Working solo, he released his first E.P. “# 01” in 2009. This opus features new sounds, distortion and urban melody which combine to introduce us to his post- industrial, post-rock universe. In 2011, after two years of constructing and subsequently deconstructing his brand of British pop-influenced chemical noise-rock, Pierre-H formed Chinese Robots. With four other musicians, Chinese Robots is a fully mastered sonic force. The band deliberately blurs boundaries across indie (dEUS, Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, Sigur ros or Radiohead), industrial electro rock (Nine Inch Nails, Unkle, Soulwax, Massive Attack, Death in Vegas), the seventies (Franck Zappa, Brian Eno, Captain Beefheart) and the eighties (Depeche Mode, New Order, Joy Division). The result is a rich, surprising rock sound: soaring, danceable, noisy...yet somehow, resolutely pop. In 2012, Chinese Robots recorded six powerful new demos, reflecting the band’s more rock’n’roll orientation, without losing their signature synthetic, ethereal sound. The first two songs were released on vinyl in June 2013 by Mind Riot Music and received the praises of the critics: “Magic”, “A must see”, “Rock made in France”... The underground tour de force of Chinese Robots has also been widely acclaimed by the public and promoters, who connect with the waves of this instrumental space station. Pierre-H gives gentle voice to the wild-eyed fantasies of a society desperately trying to escape from clichés.
