About saakred
Described as "one of the most original and intense performers in SA" Saakred gained the reigns as one of the most controversial artists in the South Texas region through dynamic and often confrontational performances, pushing sound, corporeality, and political imagery to the boundaries. What began as an attempt at self-healing , quickly grew into a conceptual stage for testing the limits of public vulnerability, experimentation and innovation.
As a composer Saakred has been featured locally, regionally and nationally including live performances at the Empire Theater, Luminaria Arts Festival, Maverick Music Festival, the Navajo Nation Museum as well as features in the Glasstire, TPR and the SA Current. As a visual artist, Saakred is a recipient of the Frances K. Hendricks Fine Arts Award, two time recipient of the SA Film Commission's Neighborhood Film Award, and has been invited twice as and official artist for the Luminaria Arts Festival.
