About Panacea Project

“Taking it back to basics”. That is how Panacea Project describes their music. Panacea Project, a musical duo based in New York City popular for its strong acoustic roots and melodic sound, consists of Dominican lead singer Luis Castro and Colombian producer/musician Carlos Bermon. Luis and Carlos reconnected in 2011 after independently trying to pave their way through New York’s music scene. The two instantly clicked and decided to start collaborating, and that’s when Panacea Project was born. In an effort to share their music and ideas with the world, the duo decided to start filming and posting videos on YouTube of their own songs and some of their favorite songs by other artists. Some of the first few videos they posted included acoustic versions of songs such as Romeo Santos’ “Mi Santa”, Mana’s “Lluvia Al Corazon” and Ricardo Arjona’s “Fuiste Tu”, among many others. The videos resonated instantly with YouTube viewers. To date, the band has over 13,000,000 views on YouTube and thousands of subscribers to their channel. Panacea Project’s vision has been very clear from the beginning. The band wanted to set itself apart from other acts that had achieved success online by taking its music straight to the people. Believing firmly in the strength of their online fans, and in its music, the band has booked stand-alone shows in New York City, Boston, Miami and most recently in Sydney and Brisbane, Australia. “With everyone producing digital music and enhancing their sound electronically, we want to stand out from the crowd,” said lead singer Luis Castro. “We want to sound in person like we do on a recording. We want to be authentic.” Sergio George, known for working with some of Latin music’s most popular artists including Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez, Tito Puente and Celia Cruz, reached out to Panacea Project after seeing their covers on their YouTube Channel. He asked them to produce the acoustic version of Prince Royce’s hit single, “Las Cosas Pequeñas.” The acoustic version was included in Royce’s sophomore album Phase II. Latin superstar Romeo Santos and world-renowned salsa singer Victor Manuelle have also expressed their amazement with the group’s concept, sound, musicianship & style.
