About Drop32

Drop32 is a reggae rock, ska band partying out of London Ontario. Guitars, trumpet, vinyl, and party are among the many sounds expressed, and as a highly energetic 5-piece crew, Drop32 won’t only get you on the dance floor…they will meet you there! ======================================== The history of Drop32 is an age-old tale of epic proportions, deathly trials, and perpetual camaraderie. To emphasize a singular starting point is near impossible simply because the story of Drop32’s genesis is a legend of five distinct destinies converging into one singular sound. G AND HANDSOME HOLD IT DOWN While playing drums in a side project, Terry G was in search of a bass player to help him fill out the rhythm end of a dying beast. “Handsome” Greg Ilton and Terry had crossed paths on a few occasions, and when Terry heard that Greg was a bass player, the invitation was extended for Greg to come play some music at what is now dubbed “The JamSpot”(Drop32’s not so secret lair). Terry and Greg than became rhythmic cronies and remained that way for some time. Through a Rancid cover band, Terry and “Handsome” honed their musical abilities into a single entity and continued down a path of personal betterment, and mutual musical advancement. THE RAT AND THE STREET POET In a parallel story line, Sean “Soliloquy” Gilmore, and Joel “King Rat” Kuehn were taking various classes together at a London Ontario educational establishment. Sean being a scholar and MC, and Joel being a garbage-eating supporter of community strength, and anti-affluence movements the two became friends like it was prophesized decades before their births. The Rat was a lead singer hailing out of Aylmer, Quebec who had been separated by many miles from his band The Cardboard Crowns. Soliloquy was a writer and poet, freestyling and vocalizing his thoughts and emotions with any musician who would be willing to jam with him…one of those people was the King Rat himself. Later that year Terry and the Rat had a short conversation, and in little to no time Terry had been introduced to the poet Soliloquy, and the three began to form a bond that would constantly be shaped over the following years. THE BIRTH OF DROP32 With the group of friends very loosely coming together as one, the genesis of Drop32 was drawing nearer by the day. The first unofficial Droppearance took place on June 3rd, 2011 at the Blackshire Pub in London Ontario. Terry G, “LowTalk” Tirolese, “B” Horne, “Handsome” Greg, and “Midnight” Pat were the static musicians on an aggressively rotating lineup of performers that night. Playing a variety of cover songs, and many of Terry’s original songs, the crew had no rehearsal as a unit under their belts, but took to the stage like they’d done it a hundred times before. Utilizing upwards of ten different instruments, the simple concert soon turned into a variety show of sights and sounds, and had the crowd smiling and looking for more. After that night the group started to settle into their positions in the line-up, and Soliloquy took a monumental journey over the 7 seas, and through the world’s harshest deserts, and stumbled on a set of turntables and a stack of vinyl. Sean now comfortably resides behind the wheels of steel. After all was said and done Drop32 was finally starting to take shape, and rehearsals were underway. With Terry G and “King Rat” on guitars and vocals, “Handsome” Greg on Bass, and Soliloquy” being a DJ/MC, the posse was destined to induce dancing in the masses. They do so to this day. Drop32 is a reggae/rock/ska/hip-hop fusion band partying out of London Ontario. With influences ranging from Sublime to Neil Young to Bad Brains, Drop32 is sure to deliver an energetic stage show to remember!
