About Jeff Troutman
Of course a boy named Jeff Troutman would grow up to love fishing. Jeff took his namesake’s destiny a step further and wrote Songs About Fly Fishing. He first picked up the guitar out of boredom after a tragic car accident sidelined his burgeoning middle-school baseball career. Home bound, Jeff learned to play and sing, finding a new love in music.
A native Texan, Jeff takes his inspiration from the legends of the Lone Star State’s country music scene (Robert Earl Keen, Josh Abbott Band, Pat Green) and the legendary Red Headed Stranger, Willie Nelson. Jeff loves a “good story” song. Songs About Fly Fishing is homage to this classic country genre and the contemplative man’s sport.
Jeff sought the support of west Michigan musicians for this album. Mark Weymouth is on drums. Mark Lavengood on dobro and Faux Grass’ Jeffery Niemeyer also back up Jeff. Longtime pals Kevin Melton (keys) and Troy Stansberry (bass) round out the talent.
