Parthian Shot,the "Metal,PhD Squad"-a tag given from a well-known greek webzine,to describe their delicate,accurate and sharp progressive metal sound-are already counting 10 years of existence. The band was formed in 2003 by Blizzard's ex-members;vocalist Panagiotis Papageorgiou and guitarist Pashalis Antoniou with bassist Giannis Lykakis. First drummer of the band was Aggelos Vafiades (ex-Deadlock, 9MM, Tigre Sporakia etc.), but he preferred to take over his natural position,this of the keyboard player. After many auditions, Vagelis Baliousis joins the band. During the rehearsals,he brings young guitar virtuoso Christos Michalis (aka Chris Mike), in order to join Parthian Shot. -After many live cover shows and rehearsals,the band releases, in 2004,it's first demo cd "Emotion;hope", fully recorded in "Ihion Studio" (now Studio 133), gaining a number of positive reactions and critics, selling more than 500 copies - In 2004-2005, Parthian Shot appears with some of the best greek underground bands, such as Birthmark, The Dive, Wild Machine, Down & Out, Acid Baby (where Vagelis played also), In Comma, Miyoko, Potergeist and others. -In October, 2005 the band enters a hiatus, due to Vagelis' departure to England and a personal issue of Giannis. At that time Panagiotis joins Acid Baby and Chris joins God.Fear. None. -In December, 2007, with the addition of a young and promising guitarist, Kostas Smonos and Alex Gavras (ex-Acid Baby, Spiraling Entropy, Memorabilia) behind drums, the band reunites for a tribute show for Dimebag Darell, in AN Club,sharing the stage with Potergeist,Need,Tardive Dyskinesia and many other uprising greek metal bands. -In 2008,Parthian Shot's songs "Have A Nice Day" & "Emotion;Hope" become the video score/soundtrack for a short movie called "Purple Rays",made by high school students from Greece (directed by Benteniti Maria & Mantesi Nantia) that deals with the "Youth & Drugs" issue,and appeared in the "StrangerFestival" Video Competition (Westergasfabriek,Amsterdam-Holland through 3-5 July 2008),supported by the European Cultural Foundation. -In May,2008 Parthian Shot deals a single, full-of-covers, comeback show at "AN" club, Athens. Birthmark honours P.S. by opening the gig. -In 2011 the band is ready to release the second, self-titled demo, with Kostas Smonos and drummer Stelios "Beast" Pavlou as full-time members. -On the 16th of December,2011,at the historical "Kyttaron" club of Athens,GR, Parthian Shot performs the very first Queen tribute live,ever occurred in Greece,under the title "40 Years Queen",organized by SoundPixel,and more than 400 people supported the more-than-2,5-hours show. -In 2012 Diamond Kalafatiades(keys,piano) joins P.S. as a full-time member.The band also releases its first self-produced/financed EP,the critically acclaimed "Parthian Shot 2012",which already sold,within the first 3 months,350 copies.Stelios departs from the band,due to personal/family issues. -In 2013,the band releases via its official youtube channel, www.youtube.com/parthianshotgr, its FIRST OFFICIAL video, for the EP's opening track,"Placebo",starring Christina Pahi and directed/produced by Giannis Daridis & Serial Filmers.Also presents its work on TV,for the "TV WAR" show,hosted by Metal Hammer's Hakos Pervanidis,for MAD TV.Also,earns the "Suggestion of the Month" honors,from Metal Hammer Magazine,GR(January '13 issue),escorted by a full EP review and a dual-page inteview. -In March 2013,the band cames to a deal with Metal Hammer to distribute 15,000 EPs all over Greece,with the May '13 issue. www.parthianshotband.gr
