About Matchstickmen

We Are Matchstickmen...

Liverpool has enjoyed a long and stirring rock 'n' roll tradition. From the time one of the most critically acclaimed acts in the history of popular music; The Beatles first put this vibrant city on the rock 'n' roll map, the pool has played an integral role in the ongoing evolution of contemporary music. Now a young Liverpool-based rock band named Matchstickmen appears ready, willing, and more-than-able to add another exciting chapter to their home town's noble rock history book.

As proven throughout their debut album, Through Hell...And Kept Going, vocalist Lewis Wright, guitarist Peter Donnelly and bassist Iain Forsyth have fully absorbed influences ranging from Lynard Skynard to Pearl Jam--and have filtered them all through their own unique musical perspectives.

Such songs as the powerful first single, "Dark Blue” which fuses gravely vocal work with arena ready rhythms, churning out a classic rock song in its purest form, to the emotive "Counting The Days," and the overwhelming "Our First Goodnight" have all attracted radio play far and wide.

"We are so please with the response from the amount of radio play we have received on so many FM and online radio stations.” Says Matchstickmen’s vocalist Lewis Wright. “These stations have provided some excellent feedback from both listeners and presenters, and it has all been very positive so far. Our intent from the very beginning for each song was to carry the listener on a journey, and we want to make sure the ride is as interesting as possible so it’s nice to see that so many people out there finally “get” us and understand what we are trying to say and do... we are grateful to you all"

Once the members of Matchstickmen began to fully appreciate one another's talents and fully hit their musical stride, it didn't take long for the labels to take notice. It was in 2011 that MainLine Records and Code7 Music / Plastic Head Distribution Ltd sealed the deals, giving the band the opportunity to turn their rock 'n' roll dreams into reality. Plastic Head is one of the leading music distributors in the UK, especially where rock/metal music is concerned and have charted artists including Anthrax, Gaslight Anthem, Green Day and grunge legends The Screaming Trees in the Independent and National Charts.

Matchstickmen’s passion for music is clearly evident to all who hear their music or see them perform. The band energises their audience in a way that has so far greatly surpassed any of their rivals and earned themselves an array of prominent gigs opening for acts such as Electric Six, The Quireboys, Taking Dawn and InMe to name a few.

With the new EP 'A Change In Season' receiving rave reviews in the UK and state side, the now four-piece have proven to the world that they are pulling in the right direction. The music of Matchstickmen appeals to rock fans and non-rock fans alike and is an essential addition to any music lover’s library.
