Chili and the Whalekillers

Since forming in Salzburg 2009, Chili and the Whalekillers have played a number of concerts and release three LP's, firstly
"The Tragic Tale of Julie and the Crying Clown" (2011), which renowned music critic Bernhard Flieher described for the "Salzburger Nachrichten" as: "Pop, with never before heard intensity as only the brave can create", adding that "they make music effortlessly on the line between art and accessibility."
The second album titled "The Banker on the Run" (2012) took a satirical look at the world of the rich confronted with a world wide financial crises and also received praise from critics and audiences alike.
Chili and the Whalekillers' new album "Turn" (2013) opens up a wide spectrum of sound, its multi-coloured songs offer themselves to their listeners to be sung along to, to be cherished or to be danced to, anyday or everyday.
Its single "Turn" has reached a widespread airplay and in February 2014 it got to the 3rd place in the Icelandic radio charts.
In May 2014 they also won the European Youth Forum’s “Emerging Band Contest”, playing at the Rhenus Arena in Strasbourg, France.


Die Isländisch/österreichische Band “Chili and the Whalekillers” formierte sich 2009 in Salzburg, wo sie sich schnell durch ihren markanten Stil, originelles Songwriting und intensive Live-Performances in der Musikszene etablierte.
Im Februar 2011 veröffentlichten sie ihr Debut-Album „The tragic Tale of Julie and the Crying Clown” das von Musikkritikern wie Bernhard Flieher (Salzburger Nachrichten) als “Pop, anspruchsvoll und unerhört intensiv, so wie das nur mutige schaffen“ belobigt wurde.
Auf ihrem zweiten Album „The Banker on the Run“ unternahmen Chili and the Whalekillers einen satirischen Streifzug durch die Welt der Reichen und der Schönen an der Schwelle zum finanziellen Ruin Aller.
Mit einem Repertoire von epischen Balladen über melancholische Liebeslieder bis zu einer eigenen Weihnachtsshow begeistern Chili and the Whalekillers ihr Publikum und am 5. Oktober 2013 erschien ihr neuestes Album mit dem Titel "Turn" dessen gleichnamige Single im Frühjahr 2014 den dritten Platz der Isländischen Radio Charts erreichte.
Im Mai 2014 wurden Chili and the Whalekillers auch zu den Gewinner der "Emerging Band Contest" der European Youth Forum ernannt und spielten darauf in der Rhenus Arena in Strasbourg, Frankreich.
