About Julia King
American Singer-Songwriter Julia King is known for her diverse songwriting style and brilliantly poetic Misfit Americana technique. There are hints of R&B, Jazz, Country, Pop, and Rock & Roll sounds that weave in and out of her writing. Song after song King pulls you into her world of Sultry, Sexy, Tormented and Angsty expressionism. Celebrated for music that is undeniably relatable, King turns everyday therapy into sonic art.
A rebel child, with a voice like honey on gravel, she never really fit a mold and doesn’t plan to. King’s passion for music has deep roots, growing up on a farm on the East End of Long Island. Her debut album Radio Therapy (2020) was a “coming of age” showcasing how King turned her influences into something completely her own.
The 'Growth & Progress' EP (2022) is a follow up album to Radio Therapy. The events of the past two years put a damper on musicians and sent most humans alike on a runaway train ride into the abyss. Chaos and confusion is a great birthing place for inspiration. King harnessed that to write what she believes are six beautiful points of contention we all, in some capacity, had to overcome. Long Distance, Existentialism, Anger, Self-Reflection, Love, and Perseverance.
She has also written songs for artist Kara Grainger (Favorite Sin) that appear on Grainger’s 2018 album Living With Your Ghost, which reached #3 on the Billboard Blues Album Charts. King self released 'Favorite Sin' in 2021.
