About The Crowns
Scarlet is a 4 piece indie pop rock band based in Amsterdam, NL. Formally known as The Crowns, the two Dutchmen and two Caribbean boys merge together to create a surprisingly Brit-pop sound with euphoric lyrics and alluring undertones. Inspired by their personified muse, Scarlet. After a major restructure in 2011, The Crowns founder Valentijn Crouwel (vocals) began working with Puerto Rican lead guitarist, Ramiro Lladó, followed shortly after by drummer, José O.Jiménez fellow Puerto Rican and friend. The last jewel on the crown was local Dutchy, Daan Koelemeijer who completed the 4 piece as their bass player. The Crowns were featured on popular radio station 3FM as 'Serious Talent' in 2011 and performed on prime time Dutch television show 'De Wereld Draait Door'. Throughout 2012 the band played in most major cities in The Netherlands with performances at Oranjepop, Sommeltjespop, ASF Festival Amsterdam, Popronde and played venues such as Paradiso and Melkweg. In mid 2012 The Crowns met their seductive muse, Scarlet. Scarlet celebrates art through music. She is music. Scarlet came across The Crowns and before they knew it, they had changed their name and completely submitted to their new identity. After their name change they joined forces with UK producer Ian Dowling (Kasabian, Adele), engineer Robbie Nelson (The Kills, Arctic Monkeys) and producer/mixer Barny Barnicott (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian) at Barny's studio in Bluebell Hill, U.K to complete their debut album, ‘No further Complications’. With the album set for release in early 2014, the boys are ready to hit the stage. Celebrate Art through Music. http://www.iamscarlet.com
