About Kamala

Formed in 2003 the group soon began to perform within the region and built up a reputation of being an energetic band focusing on bringing a great live performance. Evolving naturally the band recorded their first demo “Corrosive” November 2005. The five tracks recorded have received great feedback by audience and media alike opening new doors for Kamala.

Further shows and distribution of the demo helped the band in making new contacts that resulted in the band sharing the stage with known names from the Metal scene such as Torture Squad and Claustrofobia. Finally the time came to think of recording the first full album.

The beginning of 2007 the band has been reinforced by the return of drummer Nicolas Andrade. And it was when Ricardo Piccoli, one of the principal Metal producers in Brazil, who produced bands such as Dead Nature, Scars Souls, - recorded, mixed and mastered the album, that the essence of the band Kamala came to see the light of day. With its 14 tracks, from which 5 are re-recordings of the first demo, Kamala presents itself as a band of young energetic people full of creativity producing high quality metal music with its roots in Thrash metal looking into the future.

The incredible booklet artwork as been the work of designer Luiz Felipe de Moura (Newasko Design), who has been inspired by the hindu name of the band (Kamala being a hindu goddess). The great care that has been taken to produce such an excellent CD, sonically as well as visually, demonstrates the bands professionality and attention to detail. Finally launched at the end of 2007 in association with Overload Records, the CD received a lot of attention and overall extremely positive reviews in the media.

In 2008 the band participated in the Wacken Metal Battle, and although not having been the finalist received great feedback and commendations by the jury. The same year the band opened for larger acts of the brazilian metal scene such as the band Almah and Rockfellas (with Iron Maiden’s ex-vocalist Paul Dianno).

At the beginning of 2009 the new guitarist Andreas Dehn joined the band after Ralph Migotto having decided to leave. Andreas joined to strengthen the band in their endeavor of recording the second full album which is already in the making and started recording in the first quarter of the year. The 2nd CD is scheduled for release at the end of 2009.

Currently the band is also preparing the recording of their first video clip featuring the song Genocide from the first album which will be produced by Studio Kaiowas Cinematographic Productions.

Kamala has also received an endorsement by Lady Snake Rock Wear, great supporter of brazilian metal, supporting various events and dressing bands such as Dr. Sin, Torture Squad, Korzus, Massacration, Hangar, Shadowside, Ravenland and Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy). Kamala is also supported by Studio Kaiowas, Krunner Music Shop, Piccoli Studio and Newasko Design.
