Cyphert

It all began in September 2007, out of many improvisational jam sessions, with Andy Cyphert and two fellow classmates. After being asked to perform an acoustic set at Ashland University, Andy decided to attempt the experimental trio instead. With only two nights to prepare, prior to the performance, those countless jam sessions were refined into structured songs. The trio debuted at Ashland University's Eagles Landing on December 1st, 2007, under the title, the "Andy Cyphert Trio". Since that time, Andy and accompanying musicians have performed in bars, clubs, and coffeehouses all across Northern and Central Ohio, and Nashville Tennessee. They have also participated in a number of promotional events including: Numerous Canton, Ohio First Friday Festivals; a finalist band in the Fender Road-Worn Competition; the Canton Rhythm & Brews Festival; Celebration in the Park July 4th event; numerous town festivals; and the performing act for the Cheerwine beverage co. outdoor concert series. Having the privilege of sharing the stage with many fine local musicians over the years, the band has also supported a number of nationally touring recording artists such as: Ron Pope, Indigenous, and Ryan Cabrera. Throughout the years, a wide variety of musicians have accompanied Andy and his music. This particular lineup, however, has been around for most of those years. By 2012, it was decided to add a second guitarist to the band in order to expand upon the stylistic opportunities that a 4 piece could create. After a couple months of pondering a new appropriate name for the band, and finding it incredibly difficult to come up with anything original; The band changed the name from the suggestive 3 member name of "Andy Cyphert Trio" to the simply put, "Cyphert". In 2013 the band recorded their first 5 song EP, titled, Cloud Cover EP. A collection of materiel that had been played live over the course of the bands existence, finally tracked, and thus enabling the group to take the project to the next level. The EP is available in CD form at any one of the shows and is also available almost anywhere online including: itunes, rdio, spotify, amazon, cdbaby, and more. The current line up includes: Andy Cyphert on vocals and guitar Ben Stover on drums Josh Huddleston on guitar Ryan Kuceyeski on bass Blending the sounds of indie melodic rock, blues, and organic jam, the Cyphert band will be continuing to perform at many events in Northeastern Ohio and expanding to new places as well.
