About The Fast Track
The Fast Track formed in 2007 from the ashes of Jordan Lyga & Phil Petersen’s high-school band. Alongside mentor Tommy Rehbein, the pair recorded a two song demo before adding guitarist Victor Wright & bassist Nate Hackney to the mix. This lineup recorded "Blood Money" a tribute to Rehbein’s band Small Towns Burn a Little Slower, which attracted drummer Frankie Blydenburgh to round out the group.
On Rehbein’s advice, the band recruited Jamie Woolford (Gin Blossoms, Hit The Lights) to record their debut, 2008’s The Life & Death of the Party. The album rose to #2 on the Interpunk.com charts & earned the band a spot on the Vans Warped Tour. Shortly after this appearance, Hackney left the band.
Now with Josh McGuire on bass, The Fast Track proceeded to tour the U.S. including an opening slot for BOYS LIKE GIRLS.
In 2010, the Paul Leavitt (All Time Low, The Dangerous Summer) produced “Judge & Jury” would follow. Peter Henkels was added as a permanent member on bass & touring was resumed, including shows with Allstar Weekend, Rookie Of The Year, & the Smoking Popes.
The band’s final songs would be produced by Michael Bland (Prince, Nick Jonas & The Administration, Soul Asylum), followed by a west coast tour & a slot opening for Sing It Loud before calling it quits in early 2011.
Blydenburg would go on to drum in Culture Cry Wolf, and LYGA would launch a solo career. In 2016, LYGA compiled and remastered all of The Fast Track's songs for the album Anthology (2007-2011).~CM
