My first time seeing them live ! They didn't disappoint. Nearly wasn't able to go due to injury and am on crutches. But staff and other punters were friendly and supportive. I've been 229 quite a few times, the sound is always great. I'm looking forward to seeing Gaye Bykers on Acid play later in the year.

Chris Goss is the godfather of desert rock. No Goss, no Kyuss, No Kyuss no QOTSA, no Desert sessions not to mention all the other pies his fingers are in. It’s been 15 years since Pine / Cross Dover and the subsequent tour dates. Never one to tour massively in the UK (4 dates this time) and with obvious health restrictions the band take stage just after 9pm. Goss sitting throughout the performance he is in great spirits tonight asking how we are then asking “Where the fuck are we?? No wonder the boys from Oasis dress like fuckin Eskimo’s” And we’re off with Why the Fly. Next a few songs from the new album are well received (it’s a grower. No obvious standouts but enough colour, melody and interest in each track to hook you in). Then into the back catalog John Brown, Ants in the Kitchen, Rabbit one, Doraldina’s Prophecies, Theme from the scientist of the invisible, The Blue Garden, 100 Years, The great Spelunker, Deep in the hole all classic Masters, all played with aplomb and played at a laconic pace giving them extra weight and gravity. All too soon it’s over, Goss leaving the stage with assistance from the road crew. A musical legend and rocks best kept secret. Absolutely fantastic.

About Masters of Reality
Masters of Reality is a rock band named after the album "Master of Reality" by Black Sabbath formed in 1981 by guitarist, producer and singer Chris Goss and Tim Harrington in Syracuse, New York. The band is now part of the "Palm Desert Scene", which includes Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age and many other stoner rock or (as they prefer to call it) desert rock bands.
After its first incarnation - which consisted of Chris Goss, Tim Harrington, Vinnie Ludovico and Googe - broke apart in 1989, the band developed into a band with alternating lineups. Master of Reality resurfaced making headlines when former Cream drumming-legend Ginger Baker joined the band on their second album Sunrise on the Sufferbus which was recorded in 1992. Although the band landed a Top 10 chart hit with the single "She Got Me (When She Got Her Dress On)" Baker left the band only one year later. Victor Indrizzo, at that time drummer for Circus of Power, was asked to join and fill the vacant spot and agreed.
Goss' connection to Queens of the Stone Age resulted in the collaborative CD Deep in the Hole in 2001, and two years later, in the release of the subsequent live album Flak 'n' Flight.
Since their formation, Masters of Reality has made very different kinds of music, ranging from Stoner metal over progressive art rock to Beatlesque pop music.
Besides his involvement with this "project", frontman Chris Goss is also a very important producer (Kyuss, Soulwax, Auf der Maur, The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster etc.) and has contributed to many other bands in the Palm Desert Scene and beyond.
