About David Swan Montgomery
Born in Drogheda, County Louth Ireland, Swan Montgomery is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who has become known worldwide as the lead singer and front man for the highly acclaimed Led Zeppelin tribute band Led Zepagain. Over the course of the last two decades, Led Zepagain has travelled the world several times over while becoming widely renowned as one of the most accomplished and celebrated tribute bands of all time. A tenor known for his powerful high-pitched vocals and wide four-octave range, his solo work spans rock, world, folk, and traditional Irish music. Swan was raised on Celtic music, art, and literature. At an early age he discovered and was inspired by the voices of Cat Stevens, Carol King, James Taylor, Irish folk singer Paul Brady, and the heavy metal guitar licks of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Thin Lizzy. His musical career began with several projects in his teen years in Ireland. One such group was the duo Argus alongside his sister Yvonne. Together they performed in many Dublin pubs, ultimately capturing the attention of Ronnie Drew, founder of the legendary folk band The Dubliners, who dubbed the siblings “Ireland’s Carpenters.” In his early twenties Swan left home for London’s new wave of British heavy metal. He performed with a few bands before joining Tilt and releasing the debut album, “Ride the Tiger.” After receiving much critical acclaim from leading metal publications like Kerrang!, Metal Forces, and Raw Power, Tilt appeared at many of London’s top venues including a feature performance on Tommy Vance’s Friday Rock Show. Swan then set his sights on America. He arrived in Hollywood and quickly became a fixture on the local club circuit with profile acts such as Carrera, Matriarch, and the pop rock group Wiseguy. It was then he was recruited by Led Zepagain. Over the next several years Led Zepagain built a global fan base and released five albums: Led Zepagain: A Tribute To Led Zeppelin (Vols. 1-3) and Led Zepagain: The Sound Remains the Same (Vols. 1 and 2)." They have had enormous success on the Spotify charts with hit covers of "Whole Lotta Love" and "Black Dog,” generating more than 8 million plays alone for "Stairway to Heaven." The band has been twice featured on AXS TV’s “The World’s Greatest Tribute Bands.” Swan has performed alongside such artists as Roger Daltrey, Nuno Bettencourt, Howard Leese, Taylor Hawkins, America, Lemmy, Joe Bonamassa, Carmine Appice, Glen Hughes, and Dee Synder among others. Led Zepagain has opened for several established artists including Elton John, Joan Jett, 50 Cent, Tesla, Devo, and Loverboy. Swan also contributed to the international trailer score for the film Dallas Buyer’s Club and composed the score for Urban Myths, a film directed by Kim Marie. http://urbanmythsmovie.com He also appeared in the films Enemy Within directed by Damian Chapa, Butterfly Caught, and Lack of Cockery. www.swanmontgomery.com
