About Akrya

Modern music genres have become crowded, boring and predictable with an endless amount of artists that all sound the same. Akrya set out to push the boundaries of modern music to create something, fresh, heavy and listenable. “Punctuated with excellent percussion, raw, exciting riffs, winding solos and a barrage of growls. There is a real freshness and sense of energy in their music that distinguishes it as something special”. “It’s never too late to expand on the foundations laid down by past artists, we really want to try things that previous artists haven’t attempted before. We class ourselves as experimental, a band that will try just about anything. We don't want to confine ourselves to a narrow market of listeners.” Akrya signed a deal with Glasstone Records in 2010 and boosted their career with a worldwide distribution deal. The self-titled album was produced and mixed by Greg Brooker (Glasstone Productions) & mastered by leading Swedish melodic death metal producer Fredrik Nordström (At The Gates, In Flames, Opeth). Akrya have been touring on and off for the past two years alongside hundreds of bands making a huge mark on the local scene with many successful headline and support slots. They have had numerous features in national press including Terrorizer and Metal Hammer and have been played on radio stations worldwide. “Hard and heavy Metal bursting with energy and aggression, they know exactly how to squeeze the most from their sound and get the crowd going delivering one of the standout performances of the night” - Surface festival Debut album out now!
