About Hwy Lions
This four piece band is a barreling cannonball of loose and gritty Rock & Roll via LA, the other LA. Hwy Lions blend a Stones-like sensibility and a Garage Rock gone Americana feel. Their sound is Southern Rock the way Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers are Southern Rock, capturing bits of Blues, Country, and Folk influence. After forming in 2011 the band released Travelin’ On (2014) and The Wheel (2015) which took them touring the Southeast and parts of the Midwest. Along the way they have opened for bands like Dawes and J. Roddy Walston And The Business. The Louisiana outfits live show illustrates their dynamic range, and has not gone unnoticed. In October 2019 they won the LA Music Prize after a blazing showcase set. Fresh from the studio with a batch of new music, 2020 will bring on their third effort, Make Believe World.
