38 Special

Awesome show as expected from 38 Special! These guys sound great, and always play a good, well rounded set. I wish more bands would pack in as many songs as these guys do. Super talented musicians, and even with a misty rain for most of the show it was a great time!

First time to I saw 38 Special was at the State fair of Texas right next to the stage. That was a great experience but oh so hot. This time was more relaxed and it was great to see the band from a little further back. More lights, great sound, so much energy from a band that is celebrating 50+ years.

The band sounded awesome! Great setlist, although I wish a coupe of the songs that they cut a little short had been played in their entirety. Either way, I’m glad they played as many songs as they did and that this incredible band continues to tour and keep this music alive!

The Capra Brothers Band was very good.. The lead singer reminded me of John Belushi of The Blues Brothers. VERY HIGH OCTANE PERFORMANCE. Next up, 38 Special. Very strong vocals and rad guitar riff plus, outstanding sound, and visual light set. KUDOS to the light master. You are a Jedi among your peers. First time seeing these two bands. Wasn't disappointed. I recommend them. With such intensity and boundless energy, perhaps an outdoor venue would serve them best.

This band is phenomenal. I've been a fan for years and this was the best show I can remember. They love what they do and you can see it. The lead singer, Don Barnes, is 72 I believe and acts like 32. Still an amazing voice and oh he can play!! The newest member is Jerry Riggs. Another amazing guitarist and showman, His solo was from the heart and he loves doing it. Bassist Barry Dunaway is also an amazing player. He puts is all into every show. Bobby Capps is the keyboardist and also sings Second Chance and does backup vocals. He comes out front at times and belts his heart out. And drummer Gary Moffet plays with the best of the best among drummers. His drum solo is simply the best.. So yes this was an amazing show. Kudos to John Livoti who does the sound. He's done this for 29 years and loves it. So, yes it was simply the best concert.. Do yourself a favor and go see these Wild eyed Southern Boys. You won't regret it.

Lou Gramm and 38 Special were the artists and they both didn’t disappoint at all! Lou Gramm belted out hit songs of Foreigner and his solo hits. When he first appeared, my first thought was, oh no he won’t be very good. After he did a couple of songs, I was reassured that wasn’t going to be the case. I saw him in the early eighties, when he was still with Foreigner. Even after all those years, he still sounds great! He performed his show and left the stage and there was a short intermission, then we jammed to 38 Special. I had also seen them in the early eighties! They had changed their lineup some since, back then but they were still awesome! The sound was clear and thunderous! All of the band gave us their best performances. It was a truly awesome experience by both bands. It will be remembered as one of my favorite concerts. Thunder Valley Casino has an incredible venue for the best music experiences. I will gladly go there again and again for concerts.

Awesome show, Don Barnes and the crew rocked the Beau Rivage in Biloxi for sure!!! We enjoyed every minute of the show and are looking forward to a return visit. The only way that it could have been better, would have been if Donnie VanZant was there. Five star plus show!!!

It was amazing as always. Great venue to house that southern rock machine known as 38 Special. These guys deliver night after night. From the first note the crowd was on their feet singing along to the hits. And when the smoke had cleared and the last note played. The crowd was still standing and wanting more.

I've been to several .38 Special concerts over the years, at different venues. They always give a great, first-rate show. This is the first time I was able to enjoy .38 Special at the Capitol Theater in Flint, MI. The theater and the band did not disappoint. I had a great time and enjoyed the concert very much. I hope .38 Special will find their way back to the Capitol Theater in Flint in the future. If they do, I will be first in line to buy tickets.

I've seen 38 Special many, many times, but I must confess without a doubt this was the absolute BEST show I've ever seen. The weather was perfect...75, sunny, band was on fire & hubby & I had Front Row, Dead Center Seats...just an awesome night. If 38 Special comes anywhere near your town or you'll willing to traveling don't hesitate to see them. Don Barnes is Simply The Best!!!

38 Special was great to see and as usual were fully engaged with crowd and played all our favorites. However, the overall sound quality (which started and evident with the "Highway to Hell" cover band was some of the worst quality we have ever experienced at a show. That poor quality carried over to 38 Special where music, vocals, were cutting in and out all day. We have seen 38 special 10's of times and this was the first time it was semi disappointing. Again, The band was great, Donnie Barnes the epitome of a front man, but the sound was very disappointing.

Show was awesome. Seen the band 20 plus times. This concert was off the rails. Vocals and sound were on point. Sat closer to the front than usual. The band looked like they were having just as much fun as the audience. First time at this venue. Will definitely revisit for a different show in the near future.

38 Special at Luther Williams Field on 11/6/22 was EXCELLENT! Don Barnes can still sing like CRAZY! They did all of their oldies that everyone expected to hear, and some specially selected songs from other popular artists of the late 70’s & 80’s! I am 62, and am a 38 Special DIEHARD FAN FOR LIFE!!

Overall, the band put on a great show. Great lengthy playlist. Sound was good. The price for the tickets a little steep for the venue and location. The venue was okay. Not happy about having to purchase reserve seating outside of the ticket prices. Set up between bands took longer than expected with annoying sound checks. No food or snacks available. Not too impressed with opening band. Paid $50 per ticket; $80 for reserve table; $75 for drinks. Spent ~$300 overall with surcharges included.

Logan county fair, Lincoln IL First, the good thing: the ticket prices were $25 , we didn't have to pay an admittance fee into the fair with our paper ticket and we didn't pay to park. Food vendor prices were good too. Second, we like the warm up band, Deja Voodoo. They played for an hour and had several songs we knew. Now for the rest: We decided to sit on the first set of risers as you enter the arena. It was comfortable, but at a weird angle, and far to the left of the stage. The lawn was for chairs or standing, then another set of risers. They didn't have enough seating. Later we went to the grass. Deja got done about 8:30, 38 Special was on at 9:00. I expected that I would know the songs and content. I waited 4, 5, 7 songs and didn't know any. By 10:00 I'd listened an hour and nothing was familiar. I don't know if it's me not knowing enough from 40 years ago, or them for not mixing things up. But sadly, we left. I drove 35 miles home to get my 2 senior dogs out to pee. I was very disappointed. Sorry, 38.... guess I've been to too many Styx concerts and have too high expectations

These guys are still so awesome!! Don Barnes sounds exactly the same as decades before on vocals and he plays a lot of the classic Jeff Carlisi guitar solos exactly like the record. Great band with great catalog of songs. Arena Theatre is a great venue with great sound. I sat 2nd row and sound was never distorted sounding. Easy parking in and out. Don't miss 38 Special if they're close to you.

Great show, the boys can still rock and sound fantastic! Venue was a little weird though. No tiered seating, just rows of chairs in a ballroom. We were 5 rows from the stage so no biggie for us, but anyone sitting at the back would have been hard pressed to see much.

They put on an excellent show!!! Had a great time! My only issue is with the people that won't get up out of their seats, and dance, and enjoy it like we used to do in the 80's! C'mon people, we're never too old to enjoy some awesome music! 😎

Nice venue. Had actual seats in the upper level, but stayed on the floor. Drinks were ridiculously priced! $18.00 for a beer & a mixed drink!! Sound in the venue was good, & we enjoyed the old theatre. The band sounded good. All the favorites were played. We did however miss leading man, Van Zandt. Overall, a good night.
