About Polly Mae
Polly Mae, is proudly named for Jodi’s late grandmother, Pauline "Polly" Mae Stalnaker, who was born and raised as country as they come. Jodi is the oldest of three sisters who were all raised on and/or around their grandparents’ 400 acre farm in Waynesfield, Ohio. Polly Mae has reached many accomplishments over a few years; gracing the stages of Nashville's Honky Tonk (Tootsies, Whiskey Bent, Rippys, Honky Tonk Central), opening for legendary David Allan Coe and invited three years consecutively to perform at CMA FEST 2011/2012/2013/2014/2016.
Raised in a small town, she began singing as a small child in church and on tv. Watching artists like Barbara Mandrell and sisters, hearing Shania Twain on the radio for the first time and buying albums of Faith Hill and Martina McBride has helped shape her influence of writing and singing.
Jodi has been singing since the age of three years old, mostly in church. She grew up around country, blues and gospel music and was raised in a very musical family. At the age of 18, Jodi began singing in bars and with any band that would let her on stage. She started writing and recording in her early 20's, moving to Nashville to begin a solo career. Alone and discouraged, Jodi moved back home, started a family, and loves being with her son, Alex, when she’s not singing. “He's the best thing in the world to me!”, exclaims Jodi.
Growing out of her sheltered world, she began singing in bars at the young age of 18 and eventually grew into her voice and flew on her own wings into music. "Although I come from a long line of musicians and singers, I was extremely shy and sheltered as a child. I had to go out and figure it out on my own. It hasn't been easy"
This is no avenue for fame or fortune for her. "I simply want to use my gift that God has given me and be in my divine purpose. The best part about my singing career is to travel from city to city, state to state and hear someone say how much a song I have written or sang meant to them."
Today, Jodi's belief is nobody can outrun his or her own destiny and the chase, to once again fulfill her dream of singing, is the foundation of Polly Mae. She will “take a million no's to hear one yes!" Jodi's music career has spanned over a decade, traveled many miles, and her passion for country music is stronger than ever. Rather than list all of the venues where Jodi has performed or mention celebrities she’s been privileged to meet, visit the website and a find show near you. Witness Jodi touching peoples’ lives with her story and songs which fulfill her message that "People don't want perfection, they want a connection".
