About Brand New Disaster

Brand New Disaster began in Blacksburg, VA in 2001. Members Chris Shephard (guitar), Garrett Berneche (guitar), Billy Chubb (bass), Phil Williams (vocals), and Paul Dempshur (drums) formed the band's original lineup. The band started out playing local shows at the Solar Haus and 708 House during the heyday of Blacksburg's local house show and independent music scene. The band recorded a 5-song self-titled demo in 2001.

In 2002, Paul Dempshur left the band and was replaced by Tanner Boyle. The band began booking their own tours and played shows across the east coast and midwest. The band joined with Tribunal Records in 2003 to release "Maybe We Should Run". Shortly after the release of the record, the band relocated to Harrisonburg, VA. The band continued to tour in support of the record, including their first self-booked full U.S. tour.

In 2004, the band recorded their follow-up album "Hold Fast the Summer" with producer Andreas Magnussen in Richmond, VA. Following the recording, the band saw the departure of Tanner Boyle (drums) and Chris Shephard (guitar) to pursue other interests. Brendan Murphy (guitar) and Shawn Witt (drums) joined the lineup and the band relocated yet again to Richmond, VA. Tribunal Records released "Hold Fast The Summer" and the band continued to tour in support of the release.

In 2005, Brand New Disaster decided to part ways on good terms. They played three final shows in Washington DC, Richmond VA, and finally in Harrisonburg VA.

Members of Brand New Disaster went on to join bands such as Olympia (Equal Vision Records), Worn In Red, and The Riot Before.
