About DJ Jamieson Hill

2012 promises to be the breakthrough year for Jamieson Hill. Fresh from filming “Master of the Mix”, BET’s reality DJ competition, HIll is gaining momentum as he tours, spinning for exclusive parties and indie venues alike. In his brief yet substantial career, Hill has had the privilege to play for celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Lindsay Lohan, and Travis Barker as well as tour internationally. Through mixtapes and social media, Hill has garnered an impressive underground following. From the age of 14, Jamieson Hill knew he was destined to rock dance floors. At that young age, he was fortunate to gain access to New York City’s hottest parties and mingle with the DJ elite. His career as a FORD runway model took him to international scenes in Milan and Korea, where he quickly learned what separates NYC DJs from others and why people rock out. “I try to put on a show when I DJ. The crowd really knows that I’m up there working for them. Crowd interaction for me is key, and I’ve developed a sixth sense to know what the audience wants.” He now incorporates this sixth sense into each performance, causing crowds to jump everywhere in the world with his distinctive blend of rock, hip-hop and dance music. Aside from modeling, Hill continued to hone his DJ craft. He worked at a nightclub in New York where he was able to practice on CDJ’s before his shift and was taught by the legendary DJ Etianne and learned programming from mentors Kris Ghramm (Le Souk) and DJ Paulo (Pink Elephant, Lavo). Shortly after moving to LA to pursue acting, Jamieson saw DJ Sasha in the spring of 2005 at the Avalon in Hollywood, which sparked his passion for big-room electronic music. He continued to frequent the LA rave scene, befriending local DJs, jamming and trading music with them. By 2006, Jamieson Hill was back in New York working on a degree in business at Baruch College. He launched “The Factory” radio show and podcast at WBMB – The Biz, which quickly gained popularity both on local and international levels. Jamieson didn’t fully realize the impact of his online presence until he distributed a mixtape in 2007 for his birthday. The tape was downloaded hundreds of thousands of times. A few months afterwards, a friend mentioned she had heard the mix being played in malls and coffee shops in Russia. His release of the mashup “We Are Your Friends vs One More Time” in 2009 topped Hype Machine’s popular chart at #1. In 2010, Jamieson traveled to Tokyo during fashion week with friend and promoter Mory Travore to throw a party at Fashion TV’s f.BAR. The club was so impressed with the way he rocked that they offered him a summer residency. He also DJed the grand opening of Vanity Lounge, a rooftop club with a 360-degree view of Tokyo and played for Nike at MTV’s Zushi beach festival. Jamieson proved himself again in 2011 when his confident and passionate stage presence captivated the judges on BET’s DJ reality show “Master of the Mix” (Season 2). As he looks to the future, Hill is concentrating on completing an upcoming EP to be released early next year and hopes to expand his artistic field of vision to include film acting as well as further remixes and collaborations.
