About Exent

The band was formed by guitarists Marcus and Tobias and bassist/vocalist Andreas and when the drummer Tim joined in late 2010 they quickly started to write songs and play shows and recorded their first demo during spring 2011, that was released on June 10 the same year. By then, bassist and vocalist Andreas felt that it was a bit too hard to do both screams, clean vocals and to play bass at the same time. The band then begun searching for a lead vocalist and after a few try-outs they found their man Zakayo and with their updated line-up they continued to do what they love and played a lot of shows during that fall. In January 2012 they entered a competition, called Emergenza festival, and came in 1st place both in the opening round and their semi-final, which gave them the opportunity to play at Debaser Medis in Stockholm, during the region/national finals. The band finally came at 4th place in the Stockholm region. Quickly after that, they begun writing new material, and in August, they entered the studio to record their first full-length album. About two months later, vocalist Zakayo announced that he had decided that he was going to leave the band due to personal reasons. Way before the announcement they had set November 30 as the date to release the album on and also to have their release party. So they knew that night would become very special, since it also would be their last show with Zakayo. But since there were no hard feelings involved with the departure, they played that show with more energy than ever before, and that night they also released their album, called ”Rise With Fire”. Shortly after, the band started searching for a new lead vocalist, and they quickly found Erik. Now with their new lead vocalist they wanted to get back on track as soon as possible so they almost immediately started rehearsing the old songs and also writing some new material again. In February 2013, they played their first show with Erik on vocals and shortly after that, they entered the studio again to record a new song that was exclusively released on their Facebook page. During the summer and fall they played more shows and even got to play two of them outside the Stockholm region, in Örebro and Uppsala, as a support act to Madison Affair (GER). In September the band also got the opportunity to play at Debaser Medis for the second time as support during Degradead’s release party for their 4th studio album, called ”The Monster Within”. Right now as we speak, they have just finished recording a new EP that will have a little bit of a different sound than before. The songs are both heavier, more technical and more melodic at the same time, but still has the same vibe as the older ones. The EP (with the working-title ”Fighting The Hopeless”) will hopefully be released sometime during 2014.
