Grimshaw

A eclectic band with no limitations in terms of music, image, ideas and ambitions. Welcome, you have just stepped into an entirely new dimension of convictions. Inspired from a deeply moving love of great raw and humanistic music, Grimshaw had its humble beginnings in the Brooklyn basement of the two Raffa sibling's family home. Youthful, energetic, full of life, yet hauntingly dark, self and socially aware, they crafted their first handful of songs in a tiny and dingy studio on Flatbush Avenue with the recruitment of their present bassist(Ingrassia). These handful of songs would be compiled into a rough EP that would, unknowingly, lay down a blueprint for their sound and how it would evolve later on. Fast forward 4 years or so. Dozens of dive bars, countless number of shows, various drummers and numerous haircuts later; the 3 core members of the band have only gotten better. Maturing in musical style, musicianship, content, and songwriting abilities these three have honed in on their chemistry together and have no intentions other than progressing as one. For those of you who like to gamble, its a pretty damn good bet to say that: 1. They're here to stay and 2. They're only going to keep growing and getting better at what they do. Combining the Progressive nature of Opeth and Big Wreck with the dark, brooding heaviness of Alice in Chains mixed with the Jazz/Blues infleunced vampings of Soul music, its clear that in a band like Grimshaw, anything goes.
