The Cult

Just absolutely brilliant they’ve been my favorite band for 40 years and they have never let me down. I did work with them when I worked at electric Ladyland Studios when they did the electric album I will not go into any detail about that. That is private.. that’s all I can say is it was an absolute brilliant time in my life. I love you guys so much and always well until my last breath.

There were 3 of us to see the Cult and it was an awesome show. The only thing all of us didn't care for was the opener and I can't remember the name of the duo that played. Didn't like them at all which has to be bad as I love all genres of music. The Cult was fantastic and did not disappoint at all. The first part were songs I was not familiar with but still great. The second half of the show they played a lot of their hit songs that you know all the words to. Rain, Love, Lucifer, She sells sanctuary, sweet soul sister, The witch etc. At the end after the encore Ian paid homage to his father with birds flying on a large screen which was very cool! We all enjoyed the show immensely and I am so glad we went as I don't know if they'll ever come back to Canada.

First time that I've ever been to Fallsview. Nice venue. Comfortable seats. Wide walkways for easy entrance and exit. But the one escalator going down made long lines when exiting. Thank goodness for employees opening the side stairs which was much faster. As for The Cult. Amazing as always. There were a few mishaps with sound and about 50 people to the left of me were blinded by a light bar that should have been aimed lower. But they were great. Played a great mix of songs. Billy's was on point as always on guitar. The tribute to Ian's father who is buried nearby was lovely.

What an amazing night The Cult in Brisbane. Ian said Aussies are always lit up they came to play. And play they did! Ian’s voice is like a good wine that gets better with age. So much energy to give and share with his playful steps across the stage. A drummer that is so intense he goes into battle with every stroke. A Bass player that creates a basement of sound to rebound offf and Billie - well one of the amazing balls of fire and energy that deliver a sound like no other. Impressed to say the least. Cannot wait til they return. Can you imagine that vibe at the Opera House?? Holy C**p!

The Cult were incredible for their 40th anniversary tour, me and my sister got into them when we were in School in the mid 80's, so we are lifelong fans, we first saw them support G**s n Rose's back in 93, the last time was for the 30th Anniversary of their 2nd album 'Love' at The Royal Albert Hall,but to see them at such a small venue like the Roundhouse was a dream come true, we were just yards away from our hero's vocalist Ian Astbury and Guitarist Billy Duffy. They played an incredible set, spanning their brilliant and influential career, highlights for me were, Spiritwalker, Rain, Eddie(acoustic), Firewoman, Love Removal Machine, The Witch, Mirror, amongst many other amazing songs. You would never guess Ian and Billy are now in their 60's the energy and brilliant musicianship was incredible, Ian ran from one side of the stage to the other and even jumped off tall monitor stacks on each side, the newer members of the band were fantastic as well, I hope I look as good as he does when I reach my 60's in a decade, this gig was a birthday present for my sister Hana, she was over the moon to have seen The Cult again, we will definitely be at the bands 50th anniversary, God willing.🖤

What an incredible show!! The Cult have been my favorite band for four decades and I have seen them many times. It's hard to believe that their live performances are actually better than ever. When you have two gifted masters of their respective crafts picking gems from across their deep catalog, and absolutely bringing it with a fresh intensity and mindfulness, you get a show that has you saying 'wow' days later! And, the venue was great. Definitely a cut above your typical room.

The Cult was on fire! Great show! Ian sounded amazing and was full of energy (he looked like he was having fun)! Billy is like a fine wine who just keeps getting better as time goes on! One of my favorite guitarist of all time! The Cult is the soundtrack of my life and I’m always thankful to see them live! I hope you make them a must see! BTW: John is a stellar drummer (check out his discography!) and the bass player had on some killer red shoes!

From beginning to end, the Cult delivered as always. From In The Clouds to She Sells Sanctuary, the band was on fire (no pun intended) Ressurection Joe was played live in Canada for the first time at this show. Ian Astbury's voice is still beautiful, and Billy rocks that Gibson just as well. The entire MTELUS crowd sang each song in unison, audible on every video shot by everyone. The crowd was lively for the entire show. Montreal loves the Cult, and they show it. Also, I was in the front row center, so I witnessed all this from the best place ever. After the band played Fire Woman, Ian handed me "The Holy Grail" himself, the Holy Grail being his tambourine, that he earlier had cut himself on, left blood stains, and is currently wrapped in a blanket near my bed. Overall, excellent performance considering this is the 40th anniversary of the band and they are now in their 60's. Looking forward to the next show I am attending, London UK Nov 5th 2024. Trip of a lifetime.

Fairly standard set list, was hoping for some cool inside tracks being just after the Southern Death Cult show a few days prior. We got Resurrection Joe in the encore set. They added Aphrodisiac Jacket but dropped Love. Ian did say this was the last time they would play most songs from Under The Midnight Sun, and next year, they have 'something special' planned. Perhaps Dreamtime, anniversary tour. Good to see them again, I think this makes show 8 for me. If I don't get out to see them again as we all get a but older, a fitting end, but I hope not.

I can give no higher rating than my brother's response ... a life-long fan who has been waiting decades for the Cult to play their original Death Cult and Southern Death Cult material live, my brother was literally blown away by the band, who were in peak form on the night. Ian's voice and Billy's guitar were unfettered by the passage of time, and they both seemed to draw immense energy from the LA crowd, who were lucky enough to be in the only North American venue to host the special performance. Openers Cold Cave were also incredible. Atmosphere and sound at the ACE were again top notch.

Some of these singers in bands from the 80s don't have the vocal ranges they once had. Not this guy. He still sounded great and the guitarist was awesome. I was pleasantly surprised. I'm only familiar with their big hits, which they have more than several. Having said that, I was able to get into pretty much everything they played. From my understanding, they're simultaneously running 2 different concert tours. As for the venue, I don't generally like assigned seating for concerts, but I was ok with it at Agua Caliente. We got our tix late, so we were seated up high in the 403 section row C. That was OK, but if I could do it again, I would shoot for the 300 or 200 levels.

The Cult was great as usual. Crowd not so much. Not sure if it was because it was a c****o show, but a lot of the crowd seemed very reserved. Probably my last one at a c****o. Too strict on time, too strict on behavior, no openers and never an encore. That’s not the kind of shows i grew up on, nor like.. I’m sure the bands that have been around for awhile feel the same…

The Cult were fantastic! They covered all of their greatest hits as well as some material from their new release "Under the Midnight Sun". Ian Astbury's vocals and stage presence were stellar and Billy Duffy's guitar playing clearly demonstrated why he is among rock's premier guitarists. The crowd was on its feet from the onset until the very last note of the final encore song. My only critique of the show related to the opening act "King Woman". I thought that this was an extremely odd band to have open the show. All of their "songs" were very dark/dirge like with the singer's vocals being muted and without any real melody. If they have an album it should be entitled "Songs for a Suicide".

I had only started listening to The Cult during the Covid Pandemic lockdown. I was looking for "new" music to help pass the time. I ordered a compilation of their singles on CD and became a fan. I had seen Ian Astbury as lead singer of The Doors of the 21st Century, and already knew about his impressive front man skills. The Cult came out swinging at their show at The Greek Theatre in Griffith Park on Sunday, 10/9/22. Their live performance was powerful and impressive. The tone and ferocity of the guitar playing was a delight, and Astbury stalked the stage, danced, posed, strutted and generally owned the nigth with a voice that covered the range of a desperate wail to a mysterious stage whisper. The band made a magnificent collective noise. It was my first Cult show, and I hope to see them again. Of the three opening acts, my preference was The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. The band has two singers, and a punky attitude that impressed me with their rawness. The other two acts were professional, competent, but just not my taste. Skeleton Joe was more like performance art, and Woman King was so Goth that the lead singer asked for the already dim lighting be turned down! They were received well by the audience, but are not bands I will be following, Overall, a great early Fall night of music.

I’ve seen The Cult roughly fifteen times. This was a great show both big and intimate at the same time. Their energy was great as was the crowd. If I had a criticism it would be to turn to work in some songs from albums “The Cult”, “Born Into This”, “Choice of a Weapon” or “Hidden City” too. All great albums that deserve some stage love. Still the show was amazing and I’m grabbing their new album in three days.

What a great show ! So glad we made the long road trip to see The Cult in Leamington. I’ve been a fan of since the 80’s and have seen them in 2006 as well. Ian has a stage presence that doesn’t disappoint and his interaction with the crowd was great. The whole band including Duffy were energetic and electrifyingly fun. The crowd was great too, we had an amazing time at this outdoor event.

Sweet Soul Sister this was an amazing show..!! I was in the pit about 3 ft from Ian and Billy.. I got chills when they opened the show with Sun King. I squealed with the delight of a 16 year old when I saw Ian emerge from the shadows and grab his sacred tambourine.. I was standing right in front of Mr Duffy, feeling the vibrations from every note he played, and close enough to help him strum the guitar if I was so inclined. Ian came over and touched me twice. I even got Ian’s towel at the end of the show..! The boys were on FIRE!! And you could see they were loving every minute of being on stage..It was an AMAZING night at The Greek. It was my first time there and my experience was pure magic.

Great Father's Day weekend suprise ... i won tickets from the Greek Theatre the morning of the show. Drove from Phoenix to L.A. w/ my daughter to rock out w/ The Cult. What a fantastic venue The Greek is!!!! Than drove home after the show, to spend Father's Day w/ the rest of the family. Thank you again to the Greek Theatre & The Cult for a show i won't forget! 🤘🏽

Beat show I’ve seen in a long time! Billy stole it! He played super well and locked in with the rest of the band and seemed to be having a ton of fun. Ian hit all the notes and was his usual full tilt front man self engaging the crowd every song. John Tempesta glued it all together, kept solid time and ‘layed down the map’ for everyone. The sound was very clear. Great job!
