A Collegiate Affair

A Collegiate Affair formed in June 2011 in Richmond, Virginia with founding members TJ Miller, Mikey Stecher, and Tim Fogg bringing together a range of influences from 90’s pop-punk to modern post-hardcore and looking to envelope a sound combining unbridled passion, melody and hard-hitting breakdowns. With work going on behind the scenes towards EP #1, A Collegiate Affair quickly became a reputable and respected fixture in the Richmond scene throughout the late part of 2011 and into 2012, a period which would see them support nationally touring artists such as Aaron Carter, Thieves and Honour Crest. As their reputation as an accomplished and promising live band continued to grow – boosted by the addition of new drummer Dylan Morgan – the debut EP neared completion & the band drafted in the expertise of Chris Hummel and Paul Leavitt (All Time Low, Senses Fail) ‘Out of Place’ was released on September 24, 2013, and propelled A Collegiate Affair into the ears of a larger state-wide audience as well as into the thoughts of some of alternative music’s biggest names, sharing the stage with the likes of A Skylit Drive, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Farewell, My Love & Candy Hearts & joining forces with the formidable Joey Sturgis (Of Mice & Men, Famous Last Words, Asking Alexandria) for November 2014’s single ‘Calling Card’ In early 2015, A Collegiate Affair returned to Full Circle Recording Studio with Dan Uphoff to create a record which brings together the sum of the band’s personal and musical education over recent years, honing a more rounded and heavier sound than their early work; a quintet of tracks conveying a depth both lyrically and structurally not present on previous recordings.
