About Floetry
Floetry is a female British Neo Soul, RnB and Hip Hop duo. The members of the group are singer/songwriter Marsha Songstress Ambrosius and poet/songwriter Natalie The Floacist Stewart.
In 2000, the duo moved to the United States to further pursue their music career, later that year they signed to Dreamworks Records. In 2002 they released their debut album Floetic, which featured the singles Floetic and Say Yes. Floetry released a live album titled Floacism in 2003. The two-disc set consisted of a CD and DVD and included the single Wanna B Where U R (Thisizzaluvsong), featuring rapper Mos Def. Their third album Flo'ology was released in November 2005 and included the single Supastar, featuring rapper Common.
Floetry also became formidable songwriters as a team and as individuals. They have written for Jill Scott, Jazz of Dru Hill, Glenn Lewis, Bilal, Patti Labelle, Earth Wind & Fire and Michael Jackson, for whom Marsha penned the hit 2002 single Butterflies.
After touring non stop 2002-2006, Floetry took a break to focus on their solo careers respectively. Marsha Ambrosius releasing Late Nights Early Mornings (2011), Friends & Lovers (2014), NYLA (2018) and Casablanco (2024). The Floacist releasing Floetic Soul (2010), Floetry RE:Birth (2012) and Rise Of The Phoenix Mermaid (2014).
In 2015 & 2016 The group reunited for two sold out reunion tours across the US, leaving fans the promise of the possibility to be able to celebrate the Floetic era from the early 2000’s Neo Soul movement again and again!
Floetry met through their love of basketball and formed a friendship. Both attended The Brits Performing Arts School in the UK. Marsha majored in Music & Business and Finance and Natalie majored in Performing Arts & Theatre. After graduating both women continued to keep in touch. Natalie was a founding member of a poetry collective named 3 Plus 1 and stared in a few major ad campaigns and Marsha released a solo single and became a signed songwriter. After an annual catch up to congratulate each other on their progressions and solo successes, they decided to experiment with bringing their solo crafts together. The fusion became what went on to become Floetry.
