About Ciao Lucifer
“We wanted to stay boys for as long as possible, because men are so shit. Oh well.''
On Good News, indie pop duo Ciao Lucifer decides it's time to accept their manhood. High school friends Marnix Dorrestein and Willem Wits sing “It's too late to die young”, but if they’re going to grow up, they want to do it in their own way. “The biggest fear is Don Draper,” says Marnix, “we want to learn to talk openly about our emotions, dreams and needs.”
In 13 fresh indie-pop songs they describe the kind of grown-ups they want to become. Willem: “Strong and vulnerable, compassionate and independant, reliable and adventurous. All at once." The record is cheerful and energetic. If you listen more closely you’ll hear how they have woven their demons into the songs. Marnix explains: “We don't feel too cool to be a 'feel good band', but actually we sing about very personal things. If the end result is that we make people happy and can make them dance, it's mission accomplished."
There is a lot to discover on Good News: oil to loosen your hips, food for thought and lyrics to sing along from the first listen.
Good News will be released on 26 August 2022
