Mike Dillon with Punkadelick was amazing. Brian Haas and Nicki Glaspie truly know how to be the driving beat and rhythm behind Mr. Dillon's amazing xylophone and percussion work. Dillon's style of free form, avant garde jazz punk is relatively unheralded in the post punk, jam-jazz, acid pop world.Think Sun-Ra Arkestra meets Jim Morrison and rather than a birth a love child, they each adopted one that was a bit strange. The band played two sets lasting almost three hours of music much to the delight of the 50 or so patrons and guests of Love Velma. Love Velma is a members only establishment in a private residence near Ellenville NY and certainly has a unique style. We thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality, and had a wonderful time mingling with cool people and being able to meet and speak with the fans before the show and during the set breaks. While a small stage and sound system it was properly aligned and the sound quality in the room was quite perfect for the size of the room. The setting was a perfect complement to the music. If anyone is on the fence about catching Punkadelick, get off that fence and go listen to three of the most amazing musicians of our time.

Excellent show! Mike is at his best with other percussionists, especially those playing other mallet percussion instruments, and this lineup of New Orleans musicians was stellar!
