About Week Night Thieves

Week Night Thieves’ music has been described as Dirty, Filthy poetry LOUD and unabashed, Raw and full of energy. They are a Rock, Post Punk, Alternative and heavy blues band hailing from Plymouth U.K. Formed in March 2011. Each member of the band coming from different musical backgrounds, they came together and decided that there wasn’t enough dirty, filthy rock out there in the music consciousness. Week Night Thieves came into being. 3 weeks after forming the band did their first gig supporting local Reggae/funk merchants Land of the Giants. The band then spent the next 5 months gigging and writing new material. They played round the local venues and gathering a fan base, playing their first summer festivals and putting on their own festival Sparkfest. The bands music was evolving into a heavier, filthier sound and then just as the band was pick up pace they lost Guitarist Elis to a fatal case of music studies for which he had to move to Brighton to undertake 3 years of treatment. Week Night Thieves needed a new Guitarist that would bring something to the bands new heavier sound. They found this in the form of local acoustic/open mic favourite Steve Sampson. Following Steve’s arrival the band continued gigging and started writing new material. Steve’s heavier guitar sound, bring a new edge to existing material, such as Bend me over, Spandex and Cash Cow. New tracks such as Budget Cunts (a song about call girls), Sweetheart (Their attempt at a love song), Problem Child and Boston Matrix (It’s Alright) soon followed. The band started gigging out of the area playing gigs in London, Winchester and Bristol. As the bands sound continued to evolve they parted company with Bass Player Phil, but as luck would have it an old friend of the band had just become available. Bass player Kieran Doherty formerly of Cantaloop, Uncle Frank and Wille and the Bandits joined the Thieves. Bringing a solid, tight and powerful bass sound to the band. In November of 2012 The Theives were joined by local Bass Player Josie Boucharde and then at the beginning of 2013 Guitarist Steve Sampson Left the band to pursue a more Metal existance with local Metalers Huron. This could have ment the end but the Thieves were contact by local dark horse Guitarist Mark Palmer. The Band having found a new line up and have change their sound going for a more blues/stoner rock sound, while still maintaining their Filthy sound. With the line up now complete the band are working on new material and are recording their debut E.P this summer, as well as smashing shit up at some of the summer festivals. Week Night Thieves will bring their unique brand of Dirty Filth to any venue with the Balls to book them. LET THE THIEVERY COMMENCE. Dirty, Filthy, Poetry, Loud and Unabashed
