Johnny Kahlua

Johnny Kahlua was born in 1985 and grew up by the coast in the small village of Høvåg, south in Norway, but instead of following the local norm by becoming either a fisherman, a farmer, or a priest, it was music that saved Johnny. Partly because of his father who toured Europe relentlessly as a prolific country and blues pianist, but also through lying awake countless of hours every night, listening to obscure bluesmen, like Son House and Lightnin' Hopkins. It was only when he discovered songwriters, like Bob Dylan, Townes van Zandt, and Neil Young, he realized that the only way to eternal life didn’t go through the biblical prophecies of his childhood education, but through the dream of one day be able to write songs that can withstand the test of time. He settled in Oslo, the capital of Norway, and released his first single, Sweet Caroline, in January 2014 to critical acclaim from both the media and radio. In December the same year, he recorded his debut album in Silvertown Studios in Kristiansand, mixed them in SAGA Studios in Oslo, with Jonas Kroon (Ylvis, Maria Mena, etc), and mastered them at Subsonic Society with Vegard Kleftås Sleipnes (Torgeir Waldemar, etc). The first song from these recordings, Startin' All Over Again, was released in 2015, with a second, follow-up single, Like a Little Bird, in 2016, and the third and last single, One And One Is Only Two, which received wide-spread acclaim, before his self-titled debut album was released in September 2017.
