About Nick Doody
Nick Doody is one of the brightest talents on the comedy circuit. Sharp, topical and not afraid to say what he thinks, his brand of intelligent, honest and incisive comedy has won him fans all over the world.
Nick's career as a stand-up comedian got off to a pretty good start. Whilst still a student, Nick supported the late Bill Hicks on his final tour of the UK at the request of Hicks himself.
In addition to headlining comedy gigs all over the UK and overseas, Nick has appeared on TV shows such as "The World Stands Up", "The Comic Side Of 7 Days", "Edinburgh And Beyond", "Comedy Blue", "Comedy Cuts", "The Mark Thomas Comedy Product", "Most Annoying People of 2009" and "Newsnight". He created and starred in the acclaimed radio show "Bigipedia" (which he wrote with his good friends Matt Kirshen, Carey Marx and Sarah Morgan), writes and stars in Rory Bremner's topical radio show "Tonight" and is a regular on the ever-popular Radio 4 "News Quiz".
Nick is very much in demand as a TV and radio comedy writer, having written for the Sony Award-winning "Armando Iannucci's Charm Offensive" as well as "The Now Show", "8 Out Of 10 Cats", "FAQ U", "The Friday Night Project", "The Late Edition", "Argumental", "Never Seen Star Wars", "For One Night Only" and "Lip Service" amongst others.
2006 saw Nick take his debut hour-long show "Before He Kills Again" to the Edinburgh Fringe, where he won rave reviews and garnered a lot of press attention. His subsequent Edinburgh solo shows "Hypocrite", "Tour Of Doody", "Schizo", "Work In Progress - The Greatest Hits" and his brilliant 2012 show "Look At This Massive Picture Of My Face" have all displayed Doody's trademark razor-sharp wit and devastating political and social observations.
Nick is taking a brand new hour of comedy up to the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2014 called "Nick Doody vs The Debonair Assassin". You can catch the show at The Canon's Gait, Aug 1st - 25th (not 11th or 18th) at 8.25pm.
