If you are from Kassel and you have a thing for electronic music, then people tend to put the
‚Aufschwung Ost’-label on you. Actually it is not entirely wrong putting the native Bosnian Zoka aka
Zoka Matic in this convenient drawers, since the parties of this legendary techno club in the early
90s encouraged him to spin records and produce music himself. Though the Golden Age of Hip-Hop
was musically just as inspiring as house and techno influences. To him it makes no difference
whether the tune comes from Curtis Mayfield, Al Green or Carl Craig as long as the vibe is right.
If you want to meet the sneaker lover in the local nightlife, you’ll normally find him at the ARM. The
club owes him an excellent booking and in addition he is also the friendly resident behind the decks.
With his crowd pleasing track selection and his own productions Zoka still has an hand on creating a
‚Fullecoast‘-typical sound that can not be reduced to stereotypes. Zoka stays open-minded in every
way and although people considered him being a Vinyllover he likes to play digital as well…
Being oldschool by nature, Zoka founded beatsport crew with some of his best friends. Label, parties
as well as the crew itself are a tribute to the ‚good old days’…
On the whole it makes much sense keeping a weather eye on the founding-member of the
Beatsports Crew. After recent releases on his own imprint bespmusic or other labels like Parquette
Recordings Zoka is prepared for whatever. In view of the current year there are some nice and
exciting projects like the release for the Berlin label Exploited Records...
